Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Ok guys/girls I'd like to ask what Modern 21st century cars ( 2000 until current ) you'd like kitted? I'm more interested in the international crop rather than U.S domestic stock, unless it's something that's not currently being kitted? I'm interested to see what reaction this thread get's mainly because I think one of the reasons this hobby seem's to be dying a slow death is because kit manufacturers aren't producing enough "internationally" popular cars. Warranted they've only recently brought out some "new" modern cars, there's just not enough of them when you look at what subjects are available. Beside's the Aston Martin DBS, Audi R8, Ferrari California, Nissan GTR & the AMG Mercedes ( due soon ) & some modern Japanese cars like the WRX, Evo etc there's not much else?? So I'll start off with these, that I'd buy in a heartbeat.... Any Aston Martin, including DB9, Vantage ('verts too ) M1-77, Audi R8 V10 ( no brainer considering Revell already has the molding ) Any Audi RS model- RS3, 4, 5, 6 ( wagon versions too ) BMW M3/M5, Porsche Hybrid, GTS 2 & 3, Lamborghini LPs & Revention, Ferrari GTO 599, Bugatti Veyron, Maseratti GT/vert, Alfa 8C, the new Maclaren.... Etc Add to the list guys... Cheers Cliffo
fumi Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Some hot hatches, like the Focus ST/RS and the Mazdaspeed 3, to go with the Fujimi Golf would be nice. And I'd really like a Fiesta.
Matt Bacon Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Jaguars: XKR/75/GT2, C-X75 and new XJ. Aston DBR9 and Rapide (and DB4 GT Zagato, if you'll forgive the past history!). Another vote for the 599 GTO and Aperta. Any Bentley Continental... betest, M.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Yeh I forgot to add the Jags & Bentleys! How about the Fiat Arbath 500! Wouldn't mind seeing some SUVs too, like the X5, Cayenne, Forester, Cherokee, VW Amorak....
MrObsessive Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Why has no one kitted this??.............. One of the most gorgeous cars to come from Alfa in years and NO WHERE is there a full detail kit!
Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Mr Obsessive... I agree 1000%!! The 8C was voted, by the World's motoring journalists, as THEE Most Beautiful car of the year, when it was made.... & that IT IS... Beautiful! How about the Spyder version... & the R8 / Maseratti GT... Edited November 26, 2010 by Sickfish
Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Seriously, at the very least an after-market wheel/tyre manufacturer could produce the wheels off the 8C & R8 V10... I'd buy a s**t load!
slantasaurus Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 AMT actually announced they were going to do the Bentley Continental GT before Round 2 collapsed, would have been nice to have gotten that kit but it probably would have been a half assed effort like the Caddy Escelade, Chrysler 300C, and 06 Camaro. I'm surprised no one has listed exciting cars like the Prius, Leaf and Volt..... What about the Panamerica, everyones favorite 4 door Porsche ??? I don't think it's the lack of kits of new cars killing modeling, it's the lack of desireable new cars to kit. That said, a Hyundai Genesis coupe wouldn't be bad.
MrObsessive Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 That said, a Hyundai Genesis coupe wouldn't be bad. On my way home from the gym several times a week, I pass by an absolutely BEAUTIFUL red Genny Coupe at the local Hyundai dealer lot. I'd love to trade my Saturn Ion Coupe in for one sometime. It's one of the few RWD coupes one can get these days, without settling for a Camaro, Mustang, or Challenger. They're nice cars, but a bit too bulky for my tastes although I like the Mustang best out of the trio. And yes, a kit of the Genesis Coupe would be nice!
Peter Lombardo Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I would really like to see three cars done......the Bentley Continental GT......the Bentley Continental GT .....followed by the Bentley Continental GT. I think the prettiest "large car" ever designed.....period!
ian ashton Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I also don't think its the availability, I think it's the kids, the cost, and the competition. Kits used to be $8-10, and video games used to be $50. Now kits are $18-$20, and video games are about the same. While a model car provides a tangible sense of accomplishment, a video game is now what gets talked about at school. Without fresh blood in the hobby (or any hobby) it will die.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Yep I agree Pete, those Bentleys sure are pretty... & big! Come on guys, a prius?? Volt?? Leaf?? Are you serious? Can't say any of those would be popular... I personally wouldn't spend any of my hard earned $ on kits of those 3 ... Hyundai Genesis?? Look's plain ordinary & generic... It's been done by better Euro' car companies ( BMW ) ... But hey this is just my opinion Tell me you'd rather any of those 4 kitted than this...
Foxer Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) I got my start modeling in the Day of the Annual and those cars you see every day are the ones that remain close to my heart. Yes, I DO get all hot and bothered over a new Alpha and would love to see one. I know annual kits will never be again, but I still like modeling ... and modifying ... those "annuals" you see everyday. I'd love to see a plain old Audi ... any of them and could even be an S. I also NEED an Infinity G37, or Japan only Skyline if you please. At least Fujimi did the G35! Now, this should get the troops all up in arms .. an old Volvo wagon! .. maybe a 145 from the 70's. Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Foxer I get that you have your "hit-list" , hell we all do, but this thread, as I asked, was for a 21st century "hit-list", so can we keep it 21st century? Tell me who doesn't want any of these.... The 3 future Lotus's... Eterne Elise Élan Koenigsegg CCXR Pagoni Zonda roadster Cinque Coupe Lamborghini LP570-4 Spyder Audi R8 GT-R & Finally for you Pete... Bentley Continental GT Speed Elegance Edition Cheers Cliffo Edited November 26, 2010 by Sickfish
Matt Bacon Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Never mind Elegance, where's my Supersports? eh? bestest, M.
slantasaurus Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Come on guys, a prius?? Volt?? Leaf?? Are you serious? No, I wasn't serious..........I guess sarcasum dosen't translate over a computer. I was semi-serious about the Genesis though. Most modern cars just bore me to tears........ I'm also surprised nobody has mentioned the Ford SVT Raptor 4X4, it's been a while since there was a good 4X4 kit.
Guest Sickfish Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Matt... Yeh I'll have a couple of those Supersports too Slant'... Sorry dude, I totally missed the smiley faces Lol! Didn't think anyone could be serious about kitting any of those automobile imposters! ! Cheers Cliffo
Chuck Most Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I think we NEED a kit of the Bugatti Veyron- anything else (say, an '03-'04 Mercury Marauder, 2010 Taurus SHO, Cadillac XLR, or any of the other ten or twenty post-2000 cars I'd like to see) would just be 'bonus material'. Of course, the one I'd love to see isn't a car at all, it's the current Ford Super Duty pickup, but evidently truck model kits don't sell well, or so I'm told.
Matt P Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I'd like to see some more common cool cars and trucks like the Trailblazer SS, 4 door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, Cadillac CTS-V, and BMW M6 convertible.
Rob Hall Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) Loads of current subjects that I can think of that I'd love to see in 1:24th....Lotus Elise and Evora, BMW M3 or M5, various Audis (like the TT, A5/S5, RS4, the gorgeous new A7, A8), various Mercs (the 1st or 2nd gen CLS, CL, E class coupe, maybe an S63 AMG). Some current Porsches would be nice, like the 911S, 911 GT2 RS, or Boxster Spyder. For 1:25th scale American iron, the Caddy CTS-v in sedan, coupe or wagon form would be great, along w/ the new 2011 Dodge Charger R/T and 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The '11 Chevy Caprice PPV would make be a nice new police car kit, along w/ the '11 Ford Taurus Interceptor and the civilian '11 Ford Taurus SHO. For trucks, the Ford Raptor would be great to see.. Revell is going to be doing a '10 Mustang GT a year late, so I'd like to see an '11 GT w/ the new 5.0 engine, and the new Boss 302 version (w/ the Laguna Seca edition parts as optional). Maybe Revell will update their Dodge Challenger to '11 specs to do an '11 SRT8 392. Edited November 26, 2010 by Rob Hall
monza77 Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 I would like to see a full detail CTS-V coupe, especially since Cadillac will be running it in the World Challenge GT.
Foxer Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 Lots of great cars here I'd love to build. And I DO apologize for the Volvo comment...
RS Sport Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 How about the Fiat Arbath 500! I'm pretty sure you can get a kit of that, I saw one on sale somewhere. I think it was a Mastio.
Rob Hall Posted November 26, 2010 Posted November 26, 2010 (edited) I'm pretty sure you can get a kit of that, I saw one on sale somewhere. I think it was a Maisto. Fujimi makes the 500 Abarth, along w/ the 500 Abarth 695 Tributo Ferrari. Edited November 26, 2010 by Rob Hall
