W-409 Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 That looks very interesting so far! Great work. I'm going to build '54 Chevrolet Corvette Nomad, when I get those two kits... But your one looks very good, I'll be watching it for sure.
Jantrix Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 I've been watching your builds for a long while now Bruce and I notice when you are redoing these old builds you never bother to strip the old paint. Wouldn't it save you a lot of sanding and extra work if you did so? Not to mention a better finish on the new paint. Looking forward to seeing more.

If I remember correctly, Bruce stripped the paint off from the '72 Chevelle. Am I right.? But anyways, it's very nice to see that someone has power to build nice models from these which are built already one time. That's very great, it saves lots of money also.
LAone Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 that looks pretty sweet. ill be tuned in for this one.
Jairus Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I think Brad Leasure did a drawing of this one.... 8 years ago? At any rate it is about time someone had the lugnutz to try it!
Space Cowboy Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 Hey Jairus i think i may have seen that drawing..I got the tailgate and some body work done.. More coming soon...
Curtis v. Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 dude that looks cool, i saw the cut up 58 and thaught it was kinda depressing till i saw it with the nomad top. it should look cook then its done though
crazyjim Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Looking real good. Maybe a casting person would like to make copies of it.
Guest Markus355 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 A '58 Nomad. Very interesting build. they Did more or less make a 58 nomad.. they just called it a yeoman.
KingSix Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 (edited) Thought this might help a little. Chevrolet introduced 5 new wagons for 1958. The Nomad was back and still the top of the line wagon but with it 4 doors it was not as sporty as the 1955, 1956 and 1957 Nomads. The outside and interior trim package on the Nomad was the same as the Bel Air series. The Brookwood 4 door model easily carried nine passenger and looked great also. It was also available in a 4 door 6 passenger. The thrift priced Yeoman was offered as a 2 door 6 passenger and 4 door 6 passenger station wagon. There is no "more or less" about it , they did in fact make a 1958 Nomad... Google is your friend ... Edited December 22, 2010 by KingSix
Jairus Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 In my humble opinion, the Yeoman had none of the style graced upon the prior Nomad series. It seems little more than a utilitarian sedan delivery with windows that someone forgot to bless with a second set of doors!
Draggon Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 You are the master of conversions! What do you think about bringing the rear wheels a few inches forward? Something looks funny....
Space Cowboy Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Got it primered and it's taking shape.... Hope to have more soon...
charlie8575 Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Interesting...I might have tried stretching the roof to take advantage of the longer car. I do like this, though. Very cool. Charlie Larkin
EH225M Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Bruce, Can I suggest something before it's too late? I was looking at the pics of your primered Nomad and the yellow Nomad in the post above, and thought... Hmmm, maybe losing the sculpture in the bodywork immediately in front of the rear wheels? It's an Impala thing, not a Nomad thing. Just thingking out loud! Feel free to ignore my suggestion! James.

I believe if they had continued the original idea/designed Nomad instead of just making it another version of the standard wagon lineup in 58 it would have been Impala based. Just the same as the Tri-5 Nomads were Belair (top of the line at the time) based!
Space Cowboy Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Got it painted the color is Testors Ruby Red Metal Flake.. Hope to have it foiled soon...
Space Cowboy Posted January 9, 2011 Author Posted January 9, 2011 Got it foiled.. More coming soon....
