LDO Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 I got a new job today. I found out at 7am. I'm a plumber and I just got finished taking all my tools off the work truck. I hated my last job so bad...you just can't imagine. They treated us like slaves. The rest is TMI, but man I feel great. I start on Monday, so I have a few days off. MAN I'm happy.
LDO Posted December 29, 2010 Author Posted December 29, 2010 Oh yeah, I just had to go back and add that "(new job)" in the thread title. I couldn't let anyone think I'm so excited that I wrote a non-descriptive thread title
Greg Cullinan Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Nothing worse than going to a job you don't like. Being a Plumber is a pretty crappy job already (couldn't resist). Congratulations.
moparmagiclives Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Happy new year and the best of luck to you.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 Great....that is a great way to begin the year.......Employed!

Ben Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Hey Lee, I'm really happy for you!!!!!!! I know first hand how it is to work for someone that treats you like a slave! No appreciation, no chance for advancement. That's where I'm at now! I want to change jobs so bad but don't want to risk taking a pay cut and losing my insurance (or having it go sky high on Cobra!) I hope your new job turns out to be everything you hope for!!!!
ROB213 Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 congrats on the new job!! and remember to wear overalls nobody likes plumbers crack j/k good luck!!
LDO Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 (edited) Since I had the day off, I decided to turn in my scrap metal. We plumbers tend to keep the brass and copper we remove when we put in new parts. We save it up for a while then take it to a scrap yard. Copper was $3.25 a pound today. I figured I'd have 3 or 4 5-gallon buckets worth. Maybe 200 bucks. I just kept finding more and more. I ended up with 16 buckets and a lot of stuff too big for the buckets. I got enough to buy a new L-shaped couch at Ikea and I'm about to mail order a 4-axis CNC conversion for my Sherline mill. It was a great day indeed. Edited December 30, 2010 by LDO
Ben Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 So that is you in your avatar, leaving the scrap yard! LOL

crazyjim Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 Congratulations on the new job and the scrap ile, Lee. A friend of mine is a plumber up north - UDT Plumbing (Urinals,Drains, Toilets), and he told me the 4 rules of plumbing. 1) Stink goes up. 2) DooDoo goes down. 3) Don't bite your fingernails. 4) Friday is payday. Enjoy your new job and Happy New Year.
