I got a new job today. I found out at 7am. I'm a plumber and I just got finished taking all my tools off the work truck. I hated my last job so bad...you just can't imagine. They treated us like slaves. The rest is TMI, but man I feel great. I start on Monday, so I have a few days off. MAN I'm happy.

Oh yeah, I just had to go back and add that "(new job)" in the thread title. I couldn't let anyone think I'm so excited that I wrote a non-descriptive thread title ;)

Today was my second day at my new job! I have been a carpenter for the last 6 or 7 years and now I'm doing cabinet work, it sure is nice to work in side!

congratulations on you're new job!

Hey Lee, I'm really happy for you!!!!!!! I know first hand how it is to work for someone that treats you like a slave! No appreciation, no chance for advancement. That's where I'm at now! I want to change jobs so bad but don't want to risk taking a pay cut and losing my insurance (or having it go sky high on Cobra!)

I hope your new job turns out to be everything you hope for!!!!

Since I had the day off, I decided to turn in my scrap metal. We plumbers tend to keep the brass and copper we remove when we put in new parts. We save it up for a while then take it to a scrap yard. Copper was $3.25 a pound today. I figured I'd have 3 or 4 5-gallon buckets worth. Maybe 200 bucks. I just kept finding more and more. I ended up with 16 buckets and a lot of stuff too big for the buckets. I got enough to buy a new L-shaped couch at Ikea and I'm about to mail order a 4-axis CNC conversion for my Sherline mill. It was a great day indeed.

Congratulations on the new job and the scrap ile, Lee. A friend of mine is a plumber up north - UDT Plumbing (Urinals,Drains, Toilets), and he told me the 4 rules of plumbing. 1) Stink goes up. 2) DooDoo goes down. 3) Don't bite your fingernails. 4) Friday is payday. Enjoy your new job and Happy New Year.
