Guest Markus355 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Revell's kit, the piss poor flathead being tossed in favor of either the big lincoln from the Double T kit, or a mish mash of hemi parts from a 41 willy's kit and the double dragster kit's top end parts. paint will be alclad II gloss black with Duplicolour's paint shop series Candy apple red see link Duplicolour paint shop candy series rest will be typical kustom fare: shaved handles, frenched n moulded headlights, wide whites, moon discs. pics later maybe.
Guest Markus355 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 got the fenders painted and cleared. hood and trunklid as well. the body still needs a little finish sanding of the primer coats before i can start spraying any black.
Guest Markus355 Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 hood and trunklid have been wetsanded, hood getting one more coat of black then i can clear them. waiting on the fenders to dry enough to wetsand. theres a TON of clear and its still a lil soft in spots lol
Guest Markus355 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 mock up photos. I am VERY VERY pleased with the look so far what do you think?
Jantrix Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I think..........I wanna see more. Yep, pretty sure about that.
charlie8575 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Very nice; I would've thought with the black base it would've turned muddy. I like that color- a lot. Have you found the Paint Shop paints too aggressive for plastic? I've been told some people have had...less than desirable results using that product on plastic. Charlie Larkin
Guest Markus355 Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 (edited) prime first and you're golden. those fenders are proof! i use duplicolour scratch filler primer. i will say this, i attempted to use a piece of 1/4 by 1/4 evergreen square stock as a stir sttick one time.. the results werent favorable. but like i said if you prime first (and any painter worth his spray gun would) you are golden. as far as shine, sprayability, just over all ease of use, the entire paint shop series line is a far and away winner. 6 thumbs up. Guest Markus355 Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 update. the body is Allllllllllllllllmost ready to squirt the black on it. finally decided on an engine choice, a 348 chevy from a 59 impala kit. So far ive made a set of pullys for it, just need to paint the engine candy red and i can start puttin it together.. still trying to decide on an interior colour. im pretty sure i dont want a black interior due to how small the windows are you would be able to see anything, im thinking white or candy red with a hint of dull coat to duplicate vinyl upholstery.
Joe Handley Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 Hey Markus, what are you planning to do with that package tray area? I've been debating about making a cover for mine from the convertible top cover or cutting it out and making something for that part of the interior.
Guest Markus355 Posted January 25, 2011 Posted January 25, 2011 As small as the windows on this car are, im going to leave it as is, just painted the interior colour.
Blake Rogers Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 wicked work so far mark keep it up man i want to see the engine
