1320wayne Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I don't know if anyone else has posted any information about this yet but here it is. It would appear that the kits are finally ready for purchase. http://www.modelroundup.com/category-s/41.htm
Zoom Zoom Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 It's about time! I can think of about 3 agencies I want to build.
RodneyBad Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Danno was right on top of it last Thursday. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40952 I got a few already ordered, payed for and hopefully on the way starting tomorrow.
Agent G Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Mine have been received by UPS and will be here shortly. I ordered from policecarmodels.com right at 5 years ago. Thank goodness they are in Nevada, so I'll have pics soon. G
niteowl7710 Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 One thing I noticed that's interesting ... it was originally announced that only the generic kit would have all eight of the light bars, but, based on the photos on policecarmodels.com, it does appear that ALL of the kits have them! Of course, that will probably kill sales of the generic kit, but that's not our problem, is it? On the other hand it's a good thing since they aren't pre-decorated as they were originally going to be either, so no matter what version you find it's going to be a generic kit unless you specifically want to build the kit with the decals that came with it.
Agent G Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I received two of the generic kits today. A quick exam revealed the contents to be pretty good overall. There are eight fairly good looking light bars, and at least three types of wheels. If anyone wants a peek let me know, but I won't be able to post pics until tomorrow evening. G
ra7c7er Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 I wonder if I should build one up like agencies that used to pull me over all the time.
Zoom Zoom Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Just in time to be outdated! Yep. That's SOP in this industry But the current car has been around for awhile, and will be commonly seen for another 4-5 years, so that's probably not going to limit sales. The 2011 Charger police car probably won't be a common sight for another year or so, I'm not sure if they're even starting production of the police cruisers until later this year.

G Do show pics of the wheels. They lost my order since it was so busy last Thursday (Due to Dannos Postings I'm sure) and I just had to reorder them Tuesday so it will be a bit longer till I get mines Outdated? "O" well, they still look good and that is good enough for me to get me some.
Jon Cole Posted February 19, 2011 Posted February 19, 2011 Now that we know that all versions will have the exact same parts (including lightbars), and nothing is pre-painted in any of the kits, what reason would there be to buy the "undecorated" kit? What does the "undecorated" kit have that the other kits do not?

What does the "undecorated" kit have that the other kits do not? I can only assume that the PrePainted ones (that aren't) will have that Citys Police decals?? I'll know when I get mine, I ordered a Pre-painted and a Undecorated one so I could check out the difference in parts and decals and I'm a Hoarder Historian
niteowl7710 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 All parts are the same across all seven kits, the only difference being the ones with specific departments include the decals to build those specific departments. You have to remember a lot of people pre-ordered these kits three years ago when they were supposed to be pre-"painted" and include only the parts for that specific kit. So we ordered the undecorated ones to get the full array of equipment and not have to deal with the attempts of pre-decoration. I'm sure there will be a small group of people tee'd off that they have to find the proper Cream color and actually *gasp* mask off and paint the FHP car...but it's a Skill 3 155+ part kit, you oughta be able to handle a two-tone if you can actually build the thing.
mikemodeler Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 (edited) I think I will buy a couple of these just because of the 8 lightbars alone! I am not a huge police car builder but something about the Charger appeals to me, don't know what it is! Hard to believe that in this age of kits that we will have 8 lightbars! That, right there, will be reason enough for me to buy at least one of these kits... That and I need a cool looking escort vehicle for my "Mobile Incident Command Center"...
Joe Handley Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 The HTU I work for got the Illinois State Police and Philly Traffic enforcement cars in today. Box art cars look.....odd.... from what I remember of the Testors R/T and Daytona kits I'll try to get some pics of the box art and post them tonight. I'd buy the ISP model, but I need to get a tire patched on the Jeep, it seems to have picked up a bolt in the right rear from somewhere
Joe Handley Posted February 22, 2011 Posted February 22, 2011 Here's the pics of the boxes we got in. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v698/bjoehandley/Plastic%20Models/Lindberg%20Police%20Chargers/

I'd buy the ISP model, but I need to get a tire patched on the Jeep, it seems to have picked up a bolt in the right rear from somewhere Well the Testors kits had pictures of real cars on the box, not built models. It also seemed they photoshopped the push bumper on there as it's leaning at an odd angle...or maybe it's just the angle of the photograph.
Joe Handley Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 That pushbar doesn't help things, I'm almost wondering if it's because the car is just plain white and hiding or distorting some of the shape
ra7c7er Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Does the kit make 8 complete individual lightbars? or do they just have enough parts to make any one of the 8?
Joe Handley Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Don't know yet, I'll have to wait till next week to buy one. Fixing the Jeep's flat is coming in first priority
Danno Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Does the kit make 8 complete individual lightbars? or do they just have enough parts to make any one of the 8? Makes all 8. The components are different for each one, so there's no sharing of parts.
ra7c7er Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Makes all 8. The components are different for each one, so there's no sharing of parts. Thanks. Just goes to show you can put all those extra parts in a kit and still have it reasonably priced.
