Agreed; wheelbase is too long resulting in unbalanced appearance due to too much distance from rear of cab to rear axle.

Vehicle will look much better if the wheelbase is shortened, then bed will look best if its length is approx. the same behind rear axle as it is ahead of rear axle; in other words, rear axle centered.

Just MHO.

I'm planning a small wrecker boom (modified lindburg 34 pu), but I'm gonna try some rust and crud on this one...so the boom is more for looks, rather than function

Ah, I'd just shorten it up enough to still fit the wrecker assembly in the bed B)

I'm going with 'F'. It looks much better then the rest.The symmetry is there.

X2! It still looks like it would be just right for the wrecker boom, too! :)

YES! I think you are successfully zeroing in on the look of every other pick up rod I've ever seen. That's why I gotta go with version #A. A true, blue collar, rat truck. Consider it a dare to try something fresh. I don't think it upsets the balance of the overall piece. Just MHO.
