LDO Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 None of the above. Shorten front and back ends so the wheel is in the middle of the bed.
slantasaurus Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I voted B but the wheelbase needs to be shortened and then you could go with a shorter overall bed.
Danno Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 Agreed; wheelbase is too long resulting in unbalanced appearance due to too much distance from rear of cab to rear axle. Vehicle will look much better if the wheelbase is shortened, then bed will look best if its length is approx. the same behind rear axle as it is ahead of rear axle; in other words, rear axle centered. Just MHO.

MikeMc Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 I'm planning a small wrecker boom (modified lindburg 34 pu), but I'm gonna try some rust and crud on this one...so the boom is more for looks, rather than function
Joe Handley Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm planning a small wrecker boom (modified lindburg 34 pu), but I'm gonna try some rust and crud on this one...so the boom is more for looks, rather than function Ah, I'd just shorten it up enough to still fit the wrecker assembly in the bed
kitbash1 Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm going with 'F'. It looks much better then the rest. The symmetry is there.
highway Posted February 27, 2011 Posted February 27, 2011 I'm going with 'F'. It looks much better then the rest. The symmetry is there. X2! It still looks like it would be just right for the wrecker boom, too!
Lunajammer Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 YES! I think you are successfully zeroing in on the look of every other pick up rod I've ever seen. That's why I gotta go with version #A. A true, blue collar, rat truck. Consider it a dare to try something fresh. I don't think it upsets the balance of the overall piece. Just MHO.
Draggon Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 To add to the controversy I think you should add 3/16" to the front of the bed in pic E and leave it there!
Chuck Most Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 F all the way! (Wasn't that a Flavor-Flav song????)
MikeMc Posted March 4, 2011 Author Posted March 4, 2011 I love the comments...I'm gonna keep it up a while longer :D
