Hey everybody.... I wanted to shout out a big thank you to all of you for your kind comments.they are much appreciated. I am very happy with how the seat has turned out as well as my chassis refab work. I am so happy that I am close to having it done and being able to get some primer on it.

I have been looking forward to getting back to some of the engine work. I think it is going to be a blast. And a couple of the pictures where you saw both of my hands my girlfriend has been visiting me and she was kind enough to take a couple of the pics. I wasn't able to get to the bench last night but planning on hitting it for a few tonight. so I am hoping to have some more progress for everyone later, but no promises lol

That's what I get for abandoning the "3rd Arm" theory and assuming you held the camera in your mouth and hit the button with your tongue. Ewwwwww.

Joe... LOL... yeah I usually set the camera on a mini tri-pod that I have. I have been wantig a digital SLR real bad though. One of these days so I can take better pics :)

Super work on the seat, Chris! I much prefer the idea of having your girlfriend take the pics than holding it in your mouth and pressing the shutter release with your tongue... You oughta be tickled to death with how it turned out. Your cage looks great, too!

Scott...Thanks man. I couldn't agree more about having my girlfriend tke the pics versus using my tongue on the shutter. I can't tell you how tickled I am having this stuff done and this rework about wrapped up.

well verry little update got to work on it for about an hour last night and was able to get some new tubes made for the roll cage but didnt get a chance to glue them in, hoping to get them done tonight and will updae with some pics for everyone.

Hans... the last thing I would want to do is make anyone feel that way. I would hope that other could find some inspiration with my builds.

Derrick... thanks bro, I am proud of this.build so far. Just wish i was farther along wth it but its ok because I am getting there.

I am hoping to make some more progess today on the chassis when I get home from work laer this morning. Had to come in for a few hours this morning...Boo! lol.

Chris, I'm working on this same kit. Of course I could never post pictures of mine as it will be nothing compared to yours. I'm building mine a few steps behind you - basically robbing your ideas and using your build for reference. :D So that being said, Hurry up! Actually, don't hurry because this kit may end up the most expensive one I've ever built by the time I'm done.

Hey Michael... that is cool you are building the same kit. You should post pics of it. Glad you are able to incorporate some of my ideas on your build. I would agree with you that this is my most expensive build I have done as well considering all of the hardware and aftermarket parts that will be going into this thing. It is sure a fun build though :D

Hello Guys... got some updates on this one. Was able to get some bench time in this weekend and was able to accomplish getting the roll cage area completed. Without making you wait any longer here are pics of the updates.....

I started out by cutting away part of the kit chassis again:

After fabricating and gluing in new parts, here is the left side view:

Here I added the tubes that bent around to the backside:

All completed:

Here is a picture of the funny car back as a rolling chassis. All I have to do now is add back in my Dzus fastener tabs and make new side and floor tins for this rework to be completed:

Now that looks awesome Chris!! That must have been a bunch of work and now, with that out of the way, progress can take shape. I can't wait to see this with paint on it. Is the engine next?

Scott... Thanks man. I can't tell you how happy I am with it now. The rework has totally been worth it, Although next time I may just scratch build the whole chassis

Joe... Thanks, I know what its like to go thru those moments where it is hard to get motivation going to work on it. My problem right now is that work is going to start getting worse for me for the next week or two and I am not sure how much I will get to work on this build during that time.

Bill... Thanks... Yep I am really close for some primer. Hopefully soon.

Brad... Thanks Bud!! You are right that it was alot of work but well worth it. Just a couple more details to it and then I am planning on getting to some of the engine details. I can't wait to see some paint on it as well. Hopefully I will get to work on it this week. fingers crossed.

The Chassis looks outstanding Chris! Great accomplishment taking it almost all the way down to bare nothing and building it back up. Having it stand on it's own four wheels is an accomplishment in itself having know how far this thing was disassembled.

Almost a shame to put primer on it and cover up what work you have done. :D

Thanks Bart!! It's great to have this back on its own wheels as a rolling chassis once again. there is still a little work to do to it before primer goes on. i am thinking of a way to to help stiffen up the seat support tube since i broke it when i was messing around with the seat bucket. i pushed a little too hard and broke it out at the glue joint. It's glued back in but think i will be drilling a hole and sliding in some brass rod for support on both sides. i teally want to be done with the chassis refab work so i can start back on the engine. I have some parts that Jim (Micro Nitro) should be done with soon and cant wait to see them cause i know.he has done some killer work on them.

Thanks Bob.... I just walked thru the door from work. Nothing like and 85 hour work week. I am going to try and sit down at the bench to relax and build for a little bit tonight So I am hoping to have some prigress pics to show. It has been a very busy and crazy week for me and I have been itching to work on this build. Its been killing me not to be able to work on it. Thanks for checking in on me.

Chris......get some good rest first.......to nice of a model to rush.

John... you are right about not needing to rush it at all.

Mike... It was great talking with you as well.

Well I couldn't stay away from the bench much longer so I was able to sit down for a couple of hours and tinker a little bit on this. Felt good to get back to doing some work and feeling I was making some progress. I am super close to having this refab work done and will only need to add a few more things to the chassis once I get it done. I started working on the chassis tins again and got some of the dzus fastener tabs glued in. Hoping I will get to be able to build some more during the week depending on how many hours i am putting in at work. Here are some pics of the progress from tonight. Thanks for looking.....

So I started out tonight by taking my chassis and tracing the area for the tin work to cover on a 3X5 card. Then I transferred it to a .020" thick sheet of styrene. which will be used as my template:

I then took my xacto knife and cut the part out using a straight edge, holes will be drilled after I get my Dzus fastener tabs mounted. Also I should mention that once I get the holes drilled I will be using the plastic template and transferring the pattern to the aluminum printing plate and adding bead rolls like I did on the original set that I made before this chassis refab work:

2v2uJyEsLxAhe9C.jpg

I mounted one side of Dzus fastener tabs, gluing them in place and once they are nice and dry I will lay my template over that side and transfer drill the holes in the side tin so I can get the Dzus fasteners glued in to the other side in the same locations:

I couldn't help but put the seat in and take another rolling chassis shot with the engine sitting in place:
