Draggon Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Those sure are wild! I really dig those old dragsters, theyve got a "vibe" the new cookie cutter ones wont ever have!
Chuck Most Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 One of the many reasons I love old dragsters (cue choir of angels, please...) THE PIPES!!!!
Chuck Most Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Uhhhh... to quote Eric Cartman... "It's wrong. It's WRONG!!!!"
stewart Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Wow wheelman, those purple and pink cars are so ghetto Oh well the cars deserved it. Those sure are some wild pipes. STewart
Modelmartin Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 That is a fascinating photo (The dragsters!). Only one, the one in the back of the pickup has a blower. I love the variety in the front wheels. Also cool is the Jag drophead in the background. The pic must be about 56-58 or so. I think the second pic is Tommy Ivo's first dragster. Thanks for sharing those pics and a pox on you guys posting those Japanese monstosities!
paul alflen Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I THOUGHT I WAS AT THE PIPE ORGANIST'S REUNION CONCERT, TILL I PUT ON MY GLASSSES.
Greg Myers Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 more "wild pipes", both domestic and imported and, not hard to understand. Dave, I think this is the key here,"they had a real purpose" ART CARSOK, I get the "Art Cars", but can some one really explain these ?
whale392 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 So what would these pipes be considered? They were meant for a Hemi B-body, but flipped and the ends bent to clear the tires?
Greg Myers Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 Just my opinion: It seems like we are confusing a culture thing with a technology thing, say JEEPNEYS with a BUNDLE OF SNAKES.
Greg Myers Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) Dave, you're killing me with all this "Art". Edited March 25, 2011 by Greg Myers
DRG Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 OK, admittedly not exactly my cup of tea but they are interesting photo's, thanks for posting.
LAone Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 dont listen to wiki. it doesnt get it right. here was a discussion that was had on a forum. you gotta pay attention to the guys that LIVE in japan. http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=86567 sorry, i have no pics of actual pipes on this comp. but i have some in scale that replicate 1:1's
Greg Myers Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) Thus my comment: "Just my opinion: It seems like we are confusing a culture thing with a technology thing" and by the way Luis, those are nice pipes. Edited March 25, 2011 by Greg Myers
george 53 Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Don't understand the hostility Mike, it's just a personal opinion, and we ALL have that right. But do you REALLY think those cars LOOK COOL???? Wats the purpose of those pipes anyway? If they don't add to the performance of the vehicle, WHY add them? Just cause it's the rage? I've never put junk on my car just for LOOKS, if it doesn't serve a purpose, what are they there FOR? Just caz everybody else is doin it? Man those things are shame to do to an otherwise nice lookin car. But there is NO accounting for taste.
Harry P. Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 Remember guys... everyone has an opinion, everyone is entitled to their opinion, and nobody's opinion is any more or less valid than anyone else's. If you like the crazy Japanese things, that's fine... and if you think they're, well, crazy, that's fine too. It's kind of senseless to complain about someone else's opinion, isn't it???
LAone Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 greg: i agree with you. culture is getting tossed in here as opposed to technology and actual purpose. nothing wrong since the title just says "check out these pipe" i like some of the boso cars, its different, but don't agree with the actual "life style". opinions are opinions and i guess it depends on how people take it. i guess feelings get tossed into it and all hell breaks loose. stay calm guys, their just cars. heres a couple more with purpose. to keep the thread going.
Modlbldr Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) Well now George... IIRC, There was a whole section in the JC Whitney catalog that catered simply to parts that served no purpose other than to "detail" a car back in the day and they made quite a killing selling those parts because almost everyone was "doing it". And why do we have "custom" cars if the modifications on them "actually serve no purpose" but look good in the eye of the builder? The reason? Because WE CAN and WE LIKE IT THAT WAY!! No other reasons needed. To each their own. And- Nicely said Harry and Luis. Later- Edited March 25, 2011 by Modlbldr
bajaboy5b Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 (edited) they speed hunters pics are not of ricers they are BOSOZOKU cars not rice ( and no one say rice ricer or anything like that it's just racist i am half asian and i hate that term) http://speedhunters.com/archive/tags/Bosozoku/default.aspx Edited March 25, 2011 by bajaboy5b
LAone Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 i understand where your coming from mike and i also understand where greg and others are coming from as well. but this is a no win situation for either side. just keep this on subject and keep calm. heres my second or third gen TRD N1 replica header. got it from the guy i bought my car from.
LAone Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 LMAO those are some serious pipes!!! lols bajaboy: the term ricer is not directed to people, just cars. it's not a "racist" term. that is something that has been discussed a billion times on many forums. i know plenty of full, half, quarter asians and non of them get offended by this term. its not in lines of.... well, you know the terminology that really should offend you.
