crowe-t Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 WOW Davin this build is awesome! Excellent attention to the details. What clear coat are you going to use after applying the decals? Is it lacquer? Mike.
LunaticFord Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Thank you for leaving all of these beautiful ideas unattended, so that I may plunder them at will. Oh, and wonderful job!
mopar01lee Posted August 14, 2011 Author Posted August 14, 2011 well there will not be an update to this build for a wile.... there has been a bad misshap with the body .. the clear fogged up on every coat ( even after wet sanding between each coat ).. then on the last coat it fell off the paint stand and broke the A pillers an chipped the paint .. So this general is at a stand still till i can find a new 68 charger body.......... i have never had this much screw ups on a model till this . the one car i realy wanted to build with the most detaile as i could ... thanks for all the comments i will update this when i get a new body... untill then im lookin in my stash for a new project to start .. im thinkin pro touring time .. Later days ..... Davin

This General Lee is going to look really good when finished.
mopar01lee Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 (edited) good news , good news.. lol i found a 68 body from an old dick landy kit , that a kid stole from me an mest the car up putting it together .. the funny thing is. this is the dick landy charger , but it has 69 marker lights .. the body had a bad 10 yr old blue paint job .. but two days in the purple pond was no match for it ... i have started cleaning an cutting the doors an trunk lid off. hopefully ill have it ready for paint real soon... later days .. crowe-t Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Hey Davin, That's great news! I'm looking forward to seeing more progress pictures.
Guest Sickfish Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Well that's good news Davin! The Dick Landy charger ( 68 ) kit was actually based on the 69, hence the 69 marker lights The best thing about stuffing up the 1st attempt is being able to have the 2nd chance, with a new body, to learn from the previous mistake's that were made It's an opportunity to do it all over again but much better! Such as the clear fogging up on the old body Try a different brand, the same as the colour, of clear-coat?? Anyway mate... Good luck with your General! Cheers Cliffo
mopar01lee Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 ok not a big update .. just a shot of the new body after a lot of clean up and sanding...... 1 coat of primer is on now time to get the door jams installed .. later days ... Davin
