Cool build Chuck, My dad owned the 61 Savoy back in the mid 60's. That car looked worse then the styling on the Fury, Cool Car, I have to ask, Where you got the resin kit from? Tell me it's not from our favorite place to go here . Whats the name of that hobby shop? :oB)

It's a Promolite 2000 resin kit, Steve. Got it directly from Tom Coolidge, but sadly, he no longer casts it... though I hear Jeff Ballard is considering casting a '61 Fury at some point in the future... ;)

Thanks for the comments guys! When I took off the masking after I shot the red, and saw it in the white/red combo, my first thought was "Yep, this'll be one of my favorites." That was before the foil and bumpers were added!

Love the stories about the ugly ol' Mopars from back then, and I do have a Jo-Han '62 Dart kit I hope to be starting on shortly. B)

I love this! Yes, I'm one of those twisted maniacs that love '61 Plymouths. I wish I had a 1:1; what better car for a driver of a Smart car to see in the rear view mirror eating up pavement at a rapid rate! I really need to build this model, too. Great work, and color choice. Totally diggin' it!

Oh yes! I too have a soft spot for '61 Plymouths, as my dad came home in a brand new '61 Fury when I was a kid. I used to think the tailights looked like cigars! Lol. Very nicely done, Chuck! I love it!

Just an FYI for those interested, Modelhaus still offers a '61 Plymouth Fury curbside kit. :P

Thanks for the info; I may have to get one. I keep kicking myself for not getting a built original JoHan at an old car show swap meet for $10 about a dozen years ago. I wanted to see another vendor first, went back for it about 5 minutes later, and it was gone. There were hardly any glue smears, it was completely unpainted, and only had the kit custom decals on it. Doh! :P

You can say what you want about those old Chrysler Corp. cars but the back seats were roomy and comfortable.

I really like your Plymouth build. Such a awesome desing. Is it steering wheel clear transparent as real car has?

What might be origin of your models steering wheel? My Promolite 61 Fury came with regular light tan colored resin wheel. It would be great if some caster begins to offer Exner era mopar steering wheels casted in clear transparent.

Modelhaus, do you hear me...

Well... this was one of the final (if not THE final) Promolite Fury kits cast, I think it might have been a test casting, or something like that. I don't know what policies a particular resin caster might have with custom-casting something in clear resin, but it wouldn't hurt to ask. What's the worst that could happen- they'd say 'no'. I'm with you on that, though- I'd love to see a few choices in acrylic-style 'clear' steering wheels!

Sharp build...I've long thought they should have used a '61 instead of a '58 in the 'Christine' movie..the '61 Fury front end is much more evil looking than the '58...a very scary design. The '61 Fury must have terrified small children back in the day.

Well, you lightened my wallet, Chuck. I ordered the Modelhaus kit, along with the full wheelcovers for my '60 Starliner. Guess we'll be seeing another '61 Fury here. To quote "Young Frankenstein, "###### your eyes!" "Too late!"

Oops, sorry...should have typed "Darn." B)

I musta missed this one the first time around. I'm glad it came back up. That is definitely one of the most ugly cars to ever come out of Detroit but I absolutely love your build. You somehow made it look good.....REALLY good. I dig it for sure!!
