Tyrone your builds are an inspiration to us all your compliments are always welcomed.

Richard and Darryl thank you both for your sincere compliments......

well the weather has gone bad on me again so I had to put off the clear job so I decieded to make the most of my time and get a little creative and make a racing jacket to go in my display. First thing I did was contact my buddy Darryl Raper to get his thoughts on making the jacket and he told me how he did it. So I tried it and failed miserably :( That said I had to do it my way and this is what I did....

using facial tissue I cut a pattern out to make a jacket that would fit one of the 1/16th mechanics that came with the Garage kit I have....

jacket002.jpg

then taking the sleeve pattern I wrapped it around a ink pen and used Elmers glue to glue the seams together.

jacket003.jpg

Then I glued the three vest pieces together on the seams and turn them inside out and glued the shoulders together, once that was done I added the sleeves to the vest to make the basic jacket.

jacket004.jpg

Heres the jacket with the collor added and some trim pieces

jacket006.jpg

once I had the jacket the way i wanted it with all the trim and stuff added I dipped it in water and positioned it where it will be displayed on the car, I wrinkled it a bit and positioned it the way I want it to appear. Then while it was still wet I rubbed some Elmers glue on it. When the glue dries it will be like plastic and I will be able to paint it and add decals .....Oh its on plastic untill it dries.

on the next update I'll have the jacket and a few other things painted up. oh here a lil something I did over the drivers door too, it still needs a lil clean up tho.....

cya on the next one....... B)

Awesome job on the Jacket Rom.... Loving all of the details you keep putting in to this build. I also like that you put yourself as the driver. I was thinking the same thing on my Pro Mod build :D Guess we think alike B) . Keep up the killer work!

The jacket looks great Rom!, the War Path name, a Slixx decal?, is it still 1/25th or did you enlarge it to 1/16th?

Its still 1/25th Richard , it just happens to fit perfectly

Rom I've been doing those jackets for years and you are right on with the pattern for it. I do the same except that I don't use white glue. I choose the color I want the jacket to be and I use acrylic craft paint to paint the tissue (its messy and the tissue will rip if not careful) and once painted I put the jacket or paints in place while they are still wet. I do the parachutes the same way. Here is a link where you will find my parachute how to. http://s71.photobucket.com/albums/i153/tubshouse/Album25/ just scroll down through the album and you'll see the tutorial on how to do open chutes. Here is a pic of the very first jacket that I did. Help this helps you some Rom.models1284.jpg

It all looks good Rom! ( Good is not quite right, like Tony the Tiger says: "Iiiiiiiitttttt's Ggggrrreeeaaatttttt!), the War Path decal looks & is perfect for this car, since you are the driver 1 word of advice, Don't Wreck It! LOL!

Thanks fellas for the compliments but I have a question for ya and your answers will determine how I finish her. Would you like to see the chutes deployed or packed? :)

Posted

My vote is packed in, nothing wrong with the deployed look, but this bad boy has so much detail, and awesome paint that IMOP that it would be fine without..... just my opinion though....
