well it seems to me and every one else here. that their are not that many rat rod models or picts of em on this site. and their are more new shiny looking cars. both new and old. so EVERY ONE POST PICS OF YOUR RAT ROD MODELS HERE!!! because this is where new meets old. any old rusty classic is welcome. from 1920 to 1965 only no later cars then that! I've built these two. I have also one in the bench. First one, '32 Ford Roadster, chopped sectioned, channeled, frame built from scratch, trunk lid built from some other trunk lid, it's built longer and lots of bodywork done to the body. Front axle scratchbuilt, interior floor pretty much modifications and engine is of course Ford Flathead with some details. This one has won a few prices in local modelcar shows too.

And the other is '29 Ford, frame is also built from scratch, so on so on...

My only completed one so far. I dont like the huge whitewalls, but havent figured out how to remove the front wheels to change then out without messing up the axle.

Is there more info on this lil' Jewel? Manufacturer, what did you do to it and all?

He obviously scratched the vent and those are a type of fuel injection system, that was widely used in the 60's I believe.

That's easy Glenn. Just brush some acrylic enamel flat or semi gloss black on your tires. Works really well if you dip your brush in water and then the paint. It makes it flow out really nice without leaving brush marks. It also helps to use a pretty wide brush. I've started painting some of my tires to knock down the shine a little. My '40 Ford coupe tires are painted with semi gloss black and flat white. Nice weathering BTW.

Neither of mine are what you would call a true rat rod,but both were built in the same spirit in that they were both built from the parts box. What parts I coudn't come up with were scratchbuilt.

My '40 now sports a set of nice chrome reverse wheels from the Modelhaus,but these are from a '56 Ford Victoria. I wish I had put more effort into this build,but I just wanted to see how quick I could slap it together to get out of a slump. It took me about a week to build which is lightning fast for me!

Someday I want to blow this one apart and update it a little with new paint,engine and wheels. This was my first parts box build and I had more fun building it than I've ever had with a kit!

This one is just a simple restore job. Another one that I want to redo sometime. Mainly ditch the fenders and channel it over the frame. Maybe add a Duvall windshield.

It'll be Friday soon enough... Just finished this little bruiser:

I started with Treasure Hunt Hot Wheels, standard approximate 1/64th scale. I shaved the chassis, made a wire front drop axle and changed the wheels/tires. Tires are from my 1/43 scale parts box. Wheels are discs I cut from sheet Mylar. Paint is Tamiya Maroon over black.

Decals are from the Warbirds/Scale-Master sheet 64011. Except the tire decals, those I custom made…
