Monty Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) I've got a fairly new, very fast computer and my internet provider's top fiber-optic package. I can connect to any of my other favorite sites almost instantaneously, but for some reason I have problems connecting here. This doesn't happen every day, but far more often than it should, IMO. The only clues I have are 1) a pop-up box that says I can't be connected to this site and 2) a pop-up message indicating a sequel server error. (This one isn't quite as common as the first one). Admittedly, I'm not terribly knowledgeable about computers, but I can't figure out why I have so much trouble connecting here when all the other sites are a breeze. Anybody else experiencing this? 11:04 AM - Just happened again. Here's a copy/paste of the sequel server message: An error occured with the SQL server: This is not a problem with IP.Board but rather with your SQL server. Please contact your host and copy the message shown above. Edited June 22, 2011 by Monty
Kit Basher Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 I have just the opposite of you, really old browser and limited broadband. I have seen that screen several times too. Usually it's after I have been on the site for a while, and try to go back to a previous page. Most times, if I close the forum page, which takes me back to MCM home, then re-open the forum, it works fine. That doesn't answer your question, but you are not alone.
highway Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 It's not only you, I get the SLQ server error almost once a day. It's been happening almost constantly like that ever since the site was hacked and down for a time there around the first of the year.

highway Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 You know, I'm just wondering, since Jim says he doesn't get the SQL error like the rest of us, what internet provider does everyone have? If for some reason we have a common provider, it may be a problem through the provider and not us or the site. Oh, by the way, I have Comcast/Xfinity.
highway Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Verizon/FIOS Local company, wireless. Well, that blows the common carrier idea plumb out of the water!!!
Zoom Zoom Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 It happens all the time here, and rather frequently this week (similar if not same message that people got when trying to access PM's). It's an MCM problem.
Joe Handley Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 I get it at home with my old Dell and at work with slightly newer Gateways, both on AT&T, plus I occasionally have issues with the Google browser on my old Sprint cell phone too.
highway Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I have Frontier... I'm sorry! Don't even get me started on those idiots!!
SuperStockAndy Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 I'm sorry! Don't even get me started on those idiots!! I try to play my Playstation 3 online but I lag so bad I can't enter racing series!
Monty Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 (edited) This is getting sad. I had to go to the Model Cars Magazine site and click on the Forums button to get here. Is anybody working on this? Should we check the oil in the Rent-A-Server or see if someone blocked the slot where the quarters go in? I can pull up the Scale Auto or Spotlight Hobbies boards in a heartbeat. Anybody check the oil in the Rent-A-Server? It's the same for me. This site is acting weird way too often. I PM'd Dave Ambrose the other day, but so far no answer.
mikemodeler Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 It first I thought maybe it was my re-configured company issued craptop, but then it started happening on my new HP desktop that is superfast. I guess maybe someone is pinching the internet hose again?
whale392 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 You would think we would be worried about fixing the dreaded slow connect/refresh times (if you can even connect to the site) before posting new 'rules' governing the 'workbench' section.........but nobody can 'bully' if they can't get on! And to have a reply not go in 4 different times in 1 session because of SQL server errors? This IS getting bad.

TurboKitty Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 same here, I keep getting Board Messages telling me I can't use the PM feature or Search feature to look at New Content. Earlier I would click on a link and the page would take forever to load, and even then it went to a white page with some black script on the top (page wasn't loading correctly). I'm using Firefox and every other site I go to loads immediately at 100 Mbps average. Can't reply to any PM's either :/ Hope it gets fixed soon.
Evil Appetite Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I only get the SQL error when I click Model Cars in the breadcrumb link

whale392 Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Yes John, you shot it for nothing. SQL Server error FTL!
