miatamadman Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I just had to see how this would look. This started of life as the Motormax Police Interceptor Concept car. I painted the hood, roof, trunk and side stripes using Krylon spray. After I finished painting and decaling the body, I found out I used the wrong color blue. Either way, I kind of like this color better. Trim rings were simulated using bare metal foil. Panel lines were highlighted with a black wash. I stripped the paint from the lightbar and repainted it with tamiya clear red blue and yellow. I then painted the seperation lines between the lenses and topped the light bar with a piece of silver vinyl trim tape. The license plate reader lenses are one of my computer genreated goodies. With a little detailing, these l ight bars turn out fantastic! I still need to add the tie down clamps for the lightbar. Pushbar strobes were painted silver then topped with dabs of clear epoxy A rear partition was scratchbuilt as were the window bars. Finally, the spotlight was added to the A-Pillar with the mandatory stalk and hand grip
SteveG Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 That certainly came out as nice as your Maryland State Taurus !!! Did you repaint it complete or just add the two-tone color?
miatamadman Posted July 5, 2011 Author Posted July 5, 2011 The blue is applied right over the factory finish.
Zoom Zoom Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Very cool! I have tons of projects to get done...and this just makes my modeler's ADD go into overdrive. Thanks.
RodneyBad Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Great looking Taurus. The light bar looks Great. Great looking paint and decals.. Great job Dang, I haven't found a white one yet.
richcrabman Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 where can these be bought from? and are they available for mail order to the UK.....I'm thinking a modern version of robocop thanks, rich
jsimmons Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 (edited) I used to live in Hyattsville, on Naragansett Parkway - back in the 60's... Edited July 5, 2011 by jsimmons
niteowl7710 Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 Well Wal*Mart has been carrying them, but so far I've only found the black slicktop unmarked version there. Jeff Halpern at www.policecarmodels.com has all of the version in stock. Zoli -- Nice job, I like that blue better than Hyattsville's current cars too! I notice you didn't strip this one. Didn't want to have that fight again?
charlie8575 Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Looks nice. Are the actual cars a darker blue or altogether different? Charlie Larkin
miatamadman Posted July 8, 2011 Author Posted July 8, 2011 The actuall car color is a very very light blue......more like a baby blue
