tyrone Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Looks really good Brad... this has been, great to watch come together....
gasser59 Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 (edited) Thanks Tyrone. That means alot coming from you. I was able to get the chute finished and installed. The cord underneath pulls apart so the body can be removed. Just had to put in a driver's view shot too. More to come as this gets buttoned up in the next day or two. Thanks for following along on this lengthy build. Edited August 22, 2017 by gasser59

gasser59 Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 (edited) Thanks so much for the motivation and comments fellas. Thought I would share with you how I mounted the chute cords to the chassis. I used a piece of Detail Master fitting line and bent it into a U shape and flattened the ends to drill holes into went a piece of wire with one end bent at a right angle. The diameter of the wire allowed a nut from Scale Hardware to fit over. I had already drilled a hole in the rear end strengther before I mounted it so long ago just for this purpose. So now this task can be marked off the to-do list. Next up is roll bar padding which I have not been looking forward to so we'll see how it goes. Thanks for following along. Mister Twister Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Great looking build and some nice pics. That little car would be a handful to drive!
pharr7226 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Congratulations on an awesome build. It's been fun watching this come together.
Mooneyzs Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Brad... awesome work man!! this build is gorgeous. can't wait to see it in a couple of weeks.
gasser59 Posted April 10, 2012 Author Posted April 10, 2012 Still a few minor things to do yet on this but I'm now concentrating my time on my '41 Willys pickup gasser. I've a long way to go on it and DSC is coming up quick.
Truck parts Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 That is a great looking car. love the color, and detail you have done.
gasser59 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 The Willys pickup is too far from done to be rushed into completion, so its back to the details on this as well as my 'T' bucket and sprint car. All three will be ready for DSC this Saturday. I'm really looking forward to seeing a number of you this weekend and seeing some high quality builds too. Stay tuned for the last few Fiat details.
John Pol Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Thanks Tyrone. That means alot coming from you. I was able to get the chute finished and installed. The cord underneath pulls apart so the body can be removed. Just had to put in a driver's view shot too. More to come as this gets buttoned up in the next day or two. Thanks for following along on this lengthy build. Great job on this what did you use for the parachute cord?
gasser59 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 (edited) John - I used white thread and the threads go into a piece of black tubing that was wrapped with a chrome piece of twist tie with the wire removed. On the other end under the car, the threads stop short of the end of the wrapped tubing so that another piece of tubing that has threads that go to the rear end can slide into it snugly for removal when I want to take the body off the chassis. Refer to one of the photos from a few days ago. Edited April 15, 2012 by gasser59
gasser59 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 (edited) A bit more done tonight and my to-do list is finally shrinking. The roll bar padding is done I used shrink-wrap tubing by slicing it on the underside and twisted wires to hold it in place. Only a few more items on my list to go. Edited August 22, 2017 by gasser59
Mooneyzs Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Brad... that roll bar padding is sweet. I can't wait to see this on Saturday.

gasser59 Posted April 16, 2012 Author Posted April 16, 2012 Thanks John, Tyrone, Chris and Greg. A bit more to do yet. Next is a windshield and I'm looking around the shop looking for something suitable to use. Ha, found it. Stay tuned...
