Scale-Master Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Tamiya 1/24 scale kit with an old AMT Buick V6 from an Opel GT kit, but car and engine are significantly modified. Car was converted from RHD to Left Hand Drive. Wheels are modified and detailed BMW units. Webers are from two Super 7 kits, intake manifold is scratchbuilt, intake horns were machined from 6061 aluminum. Car is fully plumbed and wired. Paint is a custom mixed “Violent Blue” with TS-45 Pearl white for the nose. Too many things to list, but here is the WIP Thread if you would like to know more: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43139
Harry P. Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Ok, as usual, just superb! But what is it with you and Super 7s???
MonoPed Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Very nice, as usual!! The chopped windscreen is a nice touch...
highway Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Wonderful work as usual Mark. Your level of talent and eye for detail are simply amazing, and it is always nice to see builds that don't need $100 of aftermarket "bling" to stand out.
SuperStockAndy Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Glad to see you got this done! VERY nice build. Your work is very inspiring, I like what I read about you putting oil in the crankcase, and a gas-soaked towel in the fuel cell That's what I call hardcore!
Monty Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) Outstanding work, as always. Kinda sobering to see the bar set so high, but hopefully it will serve as a reminder that this kind of build only happens when you refuse to settle for "good enough". So, what's your next major project going to be? Edited July 20, 2011 by Monty
Steve Keck Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 (edited) Great job! Great detail! Beautiful paint! Isn't it really 1/32nd at only 5 inches long? You're not giving yourself enough credit doing in 32nd what most of us can't do in 24th, or.... larger. And, is that an inflate-a-spare on the back? Edited July 20, 2011 by Steve Keck
Monty Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Probably corrective eye surgery needed from machining carb inlets a couple of MM across. I just hope most of you guys have the Tamiya 1/24 7, or have seen one, to get a feel for how insanely small some of this really is. Some of this stuff almost needs magnification to see in person, and the thing's about 2x life size on my computer screen in these pictures.... Yeah, but has he ever taken the Palmer challenge?
Eric Stone Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 That thing looks great! Wish I could see it in person. Excellent job.
Alyn Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 The best models are the ones you wish you could drive. This one hits that mark and then some. Your details are always great and that blue ... I just can't get over how nice that blue looks. SWEET
LAone Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 top notch work bro. the engine looks awesome, well the whole build is awesome.
Bastardo Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Probably one of the best looking Sevens I've seen so far... Great build and I love all the details and modiffications Congrats!
whale392 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 This is superb scratchbuilding and detailing skill. The '7' looks great, Mark.

He's not kidding - I recently finished one of these, and it is tiny! 1/24 scale, but fits in a display case from a 1/43 scale die-cast car.
Jim Gibbons Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Superb! I've also built this kit, but box stock. I'm amazed at the level of detail and scratchbuilding that went into this.
Foxer Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 Looking fantastic! I can't love that engine compartment more!
jbwelda Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 thanks for bringing this one back to the top; i must have missed it the first time. man that thing is spectacular!

Roncla Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I can see a huge amount of work has gone in to this one. Superb build
Monty Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Wow , the detail on this is amazing . Where do you get all your goodies for superdetailing ? Mark has been known to make his own parts when kit parts are missing or unsatisfactory.
Kanedge Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Turned out very sweet, don't remember seeing the finished product.
