62rebel Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 did it occur to anyone else that this car doesn't look ODD anymore? the passenger door was made 4" longer to ease entry and exit; the driver door was left shorter because it would be opening into traffic and would be just that more likely to be hit. Pacer was one of the most well-thought out designs AMC put to metal as far as being stable, safe, and comfortable to drive and ride in. it just looked too strange at the time.
RTK434 Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 I like where this is going. Looking forward to more as it progresses.
Casey Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 did it occur to anyone else that this car doesn't look ODD anymore? No, I still think the proportions are horrible on Pacers, and the design really isn't any more striking after 36 years, so I still say "no". Sadly, AMC also stuck with the blistered headlight idea on the Matador coupe, too. Double ugly!
jeffs396 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Is your Pacer officially in the AMC community build, Jeff? Yep, I'm in the AMC build with it and a Willys wagon pulling it, just haven't had time to get anything done on them
gasser59 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 How in the heck did they shoehorn that in there?
surfjunke Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Cool idea. Looking forward to this WIP. Brings back memories, Mom had one.
mistermodel Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Super cool.I like the red woodie pic.I wasnt expecting a newer vette engine in the blue one by looking at the craigar rims Try to lower the rear abit, too much rake

Have you seen tbe ads for the Hyundai Velocitor? Seems like it's trying to pick up on some Pacer like themes.
Draggon Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Comparing the 1:1 to the model, defines why we modelers can do it better. The "real" ones look pathetically wimpy, while yours is really bad and agressive!
Jantrix Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 I always liked the Pacer - still do. Me too. What IS wrong with us?
crazyjim Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Have you considered, Rob, that it's not us - it's everyone else?
