djway3474 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I had an old partial Manx kit. Built up a killer 2350cc motor with some parts from the Fujimi 356 kit and made a muffler. Testors paint, clear, Boyd wheels, lowered the buggy to the weeds, made some flame decals. RodneyBad Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Awesome.. Does look like you may have some minor clearance issue in the rear tho. Very Cool tho. I can't wait for the reissue of the Manx.
Chuck Most Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Nothing wrong with a little scraping every so often! Love this one. Can't wait for the Manx to return myself!
Bill Edman Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 cannot wait for the manx kit this just entices me more
charlie8575 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Nice paint job on that. Nicely-executed overall. I've often wondered if a dune buggy was available. I guess I have my answer. Charlie Larkin
GeeBee Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Very nice, love the colour, Typical Beach Buggy colour
Tonioseven Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Again, I dig it and I look forward to building a version!
Draggon Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Man thats bad! I sure dig it, great job! Now I know what to do with the wheels and tires from the Vantastic.
Mr Core Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 This is one hot ride dude. I love it soo much Nice work on the engine. I have the idea that my next bug will have a similar one
george 53 Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Too COOL!!! Gonna hafta build me one a these!!!! Thanks for sharein it!
MikeeD Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Now that's just cool right there...gonna have to put one of those on my honey-do list...
djway3474 Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 Thanks guys good eye Double D I used Stang lights as it was a common thing to do back in the day I also replaced the kit seats as they are WAY to small in scale. I also used some chorme headlights as the chrome in the MANX kit is more like spray paint. I did this car in the Hawaiian style. There was an article in hot VWs recently on Hawiian buggies and they all had bright color paint schemes many with flames and LOW. I am using my left over parts to make the dune buggy without the body and I will thorw in a Corvair engine. I am also getting close to recreating the Sandwinder Baja Bug, just like my first car. And another VW like the first Cal look that I built back in the 70s. All this VW stuff really makes me want to build me another 1:1 and join the local club. Thanks again for all the kind words. VDubs Rule!
3men2s Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 THOSE BOYDS RIMS LOOK GREAT ON THE BUG....GREAT JOB ON THE COLOR TOO.
VW Dave Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 I like buggies low and tough looking, and yours nailed the look. I also love the Mustang taillights, as they were quite the popular item for many buggy builders. My earliest buggy memory is from the late 70s: us kids all drooled over a neighbor's metalflake green Manx with the same taillights. I missed the chance to buy that little car in the late 1990s by one day, but I got over it when my blue Manx pretty much fell into my lap shortly after.
djway3474 Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Thanks to all. Here is the pan buggy version too with an AMT Vair engine Hosted on Fotki
Dr. Cranky Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 That is way cool. Love the color and the execution. Great little build.
