Lunajammer Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I don't recall if I've posted this one to this site before so if I did, lash me with a wet noodle. Resin body on El Camino chassis. Paint is factory correct and mixed at the paint supplier, put into a rattle can. It's a nod to the 4-door Bel Air wagon we had when I was kid. I did this at least ten years ago and before I had internet so at the time I wasn't aware of a resin Bel Air or Impala. Favorite memory is older siblings sitting me on the fin to keep an eye on me while they washed the car.
Rob Z Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 That's one clean looking longroof... Great job...
Tom Setzer Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 (edited) Very Nice! I had a 59 NOMAD painted Forest Green, it had a 348 tri power with a GYRO Glide when I got it. The GYRO lasted less than a week before my lead foot and that torquey 348 distroyrd it. I replaced the GYRO with a Turbo Hydramatic from a 61 olds and drove that wagon for 6 years with no problems except the fact that girls fathers didn't like it. I went to pick up one Girl for a date and her father told me to go get my Sport Fury, because he would not let his daughter go off in that wagonI Thats the first time I ever had a father say he wanted me to drive a Super Stock while dating his daughter, I wonder what he could possible have against my NOMAD LOL! I think I'm going to look for one of those resin Impala Wagon kits, and combine it with parts from a 59 Impala and some scratch made parts to build a NOMAD. You have inspired me with your build! Now if I can only convence my wife that I really need another project! CHEERS! Tom Edited August 17, 2011 by Tom Setzer
johnnyb Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Great build! I have this resin body and am planning on building it as my first resin build. Any issue with the fit on the elCamino body? Any other issues you can recall? Thanks, JB
CorvairJim Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 that does it! I gotta get me one of these! Who made the body?
Janne Herajärvi Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Very nice. That color suits pretty well for it
W-409 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Nice Brookwood! I like seeing these built. Color is great, and paintjob looks smooth. It's really shiny too. Engine looks awesome, detailing is great and I like the overall look. I have one Jimmy Flintstone's resin body of '60 Chevrolet Nomad waiting for my skills to improve. Your build looks really great, I'd like to see more of these.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Another great model. And the color fits right in. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Fuel Coupe Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 diggin' the long roof. I have this body as well and want to build a push car from it. Nice work..
george 53 Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Beautiful build! The folks across the street from us had a new one in white. I remember being jealous of them, but they made a big deal about my moms Lincoln. Didn't know then that it was a luxury car. I dug Gary's Chevy!!! I like yours too! Great job!
Lunajammer Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 Great build! I have this resin body and am planning on building it as my first resin build. Any issue with the fit on the elCamino body? Any other issues you can recall? Thanks, JB Thanks to everybody for the warm and encouraging responses. Johnny, if I'm not mistaken it's a Modelhaus body. Most of the fit is pretty good. I think my interior tub had a slight warp so it bent down toward the back of the cargo area a bit. Nothing I bothered to correct and it didn't disrupt the fit of any major components. The rear vacuformed glass piece was fussy but it always is. This was my first resin attempt and it was a pretty cooperative.
bsoder Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 May be an oldie but it's a goodie!!...great job man
