sobpinstriping Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 This is great! I can't wait to see it finished!
W-409 Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 This is cool project, great scratchbuilding. That Corvair body fits nicely there. That frontend just looks cool. I like the stance, and rear tires are nice. Keep it going, I'm watching this one.
Psychographic Posted October 2, 2011 Author Posted October 2, 2011 It's quite possible that there will be no more updates on this build. There is a conflict between what I feel is protecting myself and the rules of this board. So chances are my posting privileges will be soon revoked. It's the boards rule and I choose not to abide by it, so they have every right to remove me. To all who took the time to reply, thank you.
DanielG Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I second that! It is a great build, as for posting problems, what am I missing?
Foxer Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 I started looking way back at the start and just took another look ... glad to see the Corvair make it's appearance. This is some magnificent work going on ... I'm fully hooked now! And, I really just like the look you've got.
Chuck Most Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Eh what? I second that! It is a great build, as for posting problems, what am I missing? Might be no last name in the 'full name' field.
sjordan2 Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Might be no last name in the 'full name' field. Pretty funny, ^. But it's there now.
Psychographic Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) Well it seems we've reached an agreement we can both live with, so on with the show. Lets see, where was I, oh yeah the build. The start of the worlds most strange header. This was the 3rd set I made and to be honest, I was just about to give up and put some ugly manifolds on the inside heads. Trying to line up the tubing to engines that aren't securely attached to the coupler, which is not attached to the frame was no fun. I bet it took 3 hours to make this header, but in the end, I think I came out victorious. this is the one that goes in between both engines, A couple of shots of it in place. Yes, it dumps to the front. Edited October 6, 2011 by Psychographic
Psychographic Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Next was to come up with some air cleaners. If you look close, you can see one of the oil filters I made. Then some custom oil pans, to clear the frame.
Nitrozilla Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Glad everything worked out. Sounded like Dejavu all over again. Got an idea if you like for the air cleaners. Permanent coffee filter. No, don't install miniature coffee filters on them. Use the metal screen to wrap around the center of the air filter. This is way 2 cool Dave.
n8dogginz Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 Thats just awesome...i bet the ride smells terribad if the exhaust dumps that far forward, but if its a track monster its all good!
customsrus Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 This looking great, you got some great scratch building skills, keep up the good work. Kinda reminds me of this corvair drawing.
Psychographic Posted October 7, 2011 Author Posted October 7, 2011 That picture was the inspiration for this build.
walt francis Posted October 7, 2011 Posted October 7, 2011 My Man, You have some MAD !!! scratch building skills and this is falling off the scale of cool to just right down awesome.
Psychographic Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 The frame will get one more "once over" with the bondo and it's time for paint. A dip molding was added to the roof, the dash is close to being done, probably another "once over" for it too. I got a lot of pieces primered and painted .
Psychographic Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 An interior shot with the shifter on the tree and pedals mocked up.
Psychographic Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 We have some color finally. The color is a pearl yellow, but reflects a lime gold hue. It's very hard to photograph. Testing to see if everything fits. The frame. I played with the color balance of this pic, it's closer but still miles off.
W-409 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 That frame work looks simply amazing. That rear axle looks really good, nice details and great scratchbuilding on these parts. I like this build very much, can't wait to see more.
Psychographic Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Reassembly of the frame is underway.
Psychographic Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Getting some of the details on the frame started.
Scott Colmer Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Wow! This is excellent! Great scratch building and engineering!
John Teresi Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 David.......first time I saw this.......GREAT scratch building......looking really really good!!!!!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Me too. I love the execution and the craftsmanship, not to mention the creativity. Keep it going, it's pure eye candy.
