I really get a kick out of Spongebob! I really liked Rocko's Modern Life when it used to be on! Some of the things they say and do are geared towards adults. I'll be watching with my son and they'll say something that makes me laugh and my son has to ask why I'm laughing! LOL

I used to watch Spongebob, but I much prefered Invader Zim. Nowadays, the Simpsons, Family Guy, and South Park are the main ones, and I still check out Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Robot Chicken if I stay up late enough.

"Phineas and Ferb" on the Disney Channel is a brilliant show. Very funny and smartly done.

I think "Spongebob" is a rather intelligent program, on top of being flat out hilarious. I see a lot of commentary in it about pre-conceptions and mob mentality. Spongebob himself seems to be the only person in the show capable of seeing that people are doing dumb things just because "it's the way we always did it."

I really like the DC Animated Universe cartoons ("Batman: The Animated Series", "Superman: The Animated Series", "Batman Beyond", "Justice League" and "Justice League: Unlimited").

You can't go wrong with the original Looney Toons and Merrie Melodies.

If we're going to also include anime, I love "Cowboy Bebop", "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and most of the films from Studio Ghibli.

Another one that I used to like that's not on anymore is the Angry Beavers. The one beaver built models.

For those of us who enjoyed Space Ghost as kids in the 60's, I found Space Ghost Coast to Coast so funny I'm still laughing. Unfortunately, for the few Aqua Teen Hunger Force episodes I've seen, I have yet to crack a smile. I SO don't get it. I must be out of the demographic. I'm pretty much on board with most of everything else on the previous posts.

I like the classics (Bugs, Woody, Popeye, Tom & Jerry, etc.,) and the shorts from the 1930s and '40s. I also the mystery cartoons, Johnny Quest, and have something of an affinity for Dexter's Laboratory- I more-or-less identify with Dexter- brilliant plans and ideas gone to seed because of external causes.

I'll still watch Phineus and Ferb as well as Kick Buttowski, but not much else any more. Used to love the Batman cartoons that were on in the 90's, especially the streamliner like Batmobile and all the art deco vehicles they used. Also used to watch Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, South Park, Simpsons, and Futurama all the time but haven't had the chance to any more.

Ok, add another for Spongebob!! :D:lol:

Other than Spongebob, I also watch the Penguins of Madagascar and I also have all of the original Transformers series downloaded on my computer. My favorites also include The Simpsons, American Dad, Family Guy, and South Park. I also liked Bevis and Butthead and King of the Hill and still watch them if I find them on.

One I'm glad to see go was Bob's Burgers. I couldn't stand more than the first five minutes of that show!

Joe- I LOVED the '90's Batman cartoons! In hindsight it was pretty dark for a kid's cartoon, but I enjoyed it nevertheless, despite (or because) of that.

You know Chuck, I almost wonder if that could have been aimed at the young teen market. IIRC I was in high school when that came out and it did almost seem too mature for younger kids even then.

True, but on the other hand, I remember a Spongebob episode where Mr. Crabs dug up a grave to steal a hat... that's a bit beyond a Y7 rating! Oh.... anybody remember the 'Prehibernation' episode, which had a Pantera song? Awesome.

STARBLAZERS! I've loved that anime ever since it debuted way back in '79! I even have the first and second season on VHS/DVD and IMO, it's one of the best Sci-Fi Japanese anime that's been done!

Now of the classic Japanese anime, you can't go wrong with Speed Racer, Marine Boy, Gigantor, Prince Planet, and of course Astro Boy! :D

Never saw Starblazers- about the only anime I watched 'back in the day' was Bionic 6. I think TMNT was done in Japan as well, and I used to watch that quite a bit.

Slightly off topic, but does anyone remember the Star Trek animated series?
