blubaja
The interior looks neat. Other than that, I never liked this dude's style. Kit looks decent so far. Hopefully Revell doesn't half A it so we can make something else with the good parts:)
Longbox55
Whenever it comes out, I'm definitly getting a few of them. One to build up like the 1:1, and at least one more to build it in the color i suggested when they had the informal poll on the site. I even already have the paint to do that one. Might also swap the engine to the one I suggested during that informal poll, which was mentioned on the show when he did the unvail of the actual engine. I was the one nutcase that suggested a Pontiac engine
horsepower
Oh Boy! I will be in So Cal for an extended anniversary visit at Mickey world (November 20th-Dec4th) maybe I'll just trot over to Pegasus Hobbies, & check to see if it's in before we come back up the "hill" to home. Bernard Kron
I think it's quite clear that Revell has been listening. I for one came mighty close to becoming totally obnoxious about the "fat front tire" syndrome on the Deuces up to this point. Not that my voice counts for a lot, but I was far from the only one on the message boards expressing concern. Obviously Stacey David's voice is by far the loudest of all; after all it is his "intellectual property", regardless of what one may think of its overall appearance. It's unimportant to me whether the kit is a "new-tool" as, apparently, Revell themselves are saying, or whether it borrows extensively from the rest of the Deuce series. Despite the "new tool" claim, there is considerable evidence for the latter, i.e. the front suspension, the hairpins, the tailights, the absence of hinges on the bodywork, perhaps the rear suspension as well, although difficult to make out in the pictures up to now. But either as a complete replica of the Rat Roaster, or as a parts source that runs very deep and wide indeed, the kit is a huge success IMHO. In fact the whole 1st half 2013 offering is creating a great deal of positive buzz for Revell - good on them I say.
Jantrix
It's all new tooling top to bottom. Considering Revell already has a very good roadster kit, to see this new tool of another is quite amazing to me. I will likely find my way to the hobby shop for this. MachinistMark
Those tires are gorgeous
Phildaupho
Hard to tell by the photos but a number of people are saying the front axle is tubular just like all the other Revell Deuces. I hope that is not the case as it should be a beam axle like that used on the Stacey David Rat Roadster and virtually every other recently built Deuce. Longbox55
Incredible!!! No wide front tires on the Deuce!!! In fact it looks like the wheels and tires from the Orange Crate re-issue. Look's like the standard Deuce front axle and disc brakes, though. I wonder if it has air bags? Still, no wide front tires, a SBC, trim on the grill shell, body color headlight buckets, and is that a chopped windshield (??). Overall, this may be a well balanced refresh of the venerable 90's street rod roadster. It's hard to see, but it does look like it might just have the beam axle. Ryan S.
I don't love the actual car this is representing, but I see a lot of cool parts and a base to build some cool models on. I'll probably pick up one or two of these. So far all the pictures show some very nice parts- to my eyes.
CEKPETHO BCE
On the Rat Roaster, are those rear fenders molded into the body, chassis or neither? Would be nice if they were just optional parts that could be used on any of the other Revell 32 Fords.
Fat Brian
I would imagine they are seperate but have no confirmation.
johnbuzzed
I'll probably but one but I won't paint it green. I wonder if the "new" tires have any sidewall detail or will this be a case of licensing fees prohibiting that? Edited October 11, 2012 by johnbuzzed
Longbox55
I suppose what's on the sidewalls of the tires will depend on what Corky Coker has to say about it, as that's who manuafactures the tires that's on the 1:1 car.
CEKPETHO BCE
I wish Revell included some steelies with those new tire and a flathead V8.
Ace-Garageguy
Like some of you other guys, I'm not wild about the car as-built, but man, as a box of cool parts, it looks like a winner indeed.
MachinistMark
I'll build one more or less box stock, but not green (love the colour, love the car, hate the colour on the car.) And 2 or 3 kits for parts.
Ace-Garageguy
I actually like the car except for those six whatever-they-are on the hood. They remind me too much of the fake stick-on portholes that seem to be on every other car down here, and they just really put me off the whole thing. LDO
I'm not crazy about the car, but it does have some really popular styling cues seen in 1/1 rods. I would expect it to be a big seller, and that's good for Revell. /sorry, I have no "they shoulda made X" complaints.
cobraman
I agree with William about those 6 hood thing a ma bobs. I do like the car but I think it would look much better in a different color.
Longbox55
I agree with William about those 6 hood thing a ma bobs. I do like the car but I think it would look much better in a different color. If they followed how the car is setup, there should be a set of hoodsides, a regular louvered top peice, plus a pair of veleocity stacks with air filters, as Stacey has the actual car set up to be able to run all 3 ways. As far as the color goes, I told him to paint it RED!
jbwelda
count me as one against those do dads on the hood, thats exactly what i thought when i saw them: those stick on things that look like buick portholes or something. other than that i like the car itself and the parts look great so this is one i am looking forward to. Dennis Lacy
Sand, Fill, Primer. There, the stupid things on the hood are gone. Pretty simple, yeah?
jbwelda
not, for example, if you are building box stock!
Rob Hall
Some of the pics show it with front cycle fenders, some don't.
Longbox55
The cycle fenders are removable on the 1:1, again, intentional on Stacey's part to allow for different looks on the car.
