Old Coyote Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 ... because I just don't have the stable hands and dexterity to install it properly My latest creation is an AMT '64 Impala ......... box stock with the exception of the 283 small block from the Revell '57 Chevy kit
SuperStockAndy Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Don't feel bad; that's still a LOT better than what I can do with it. The Impala looks nice.
106miles Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 very nice! I like to see a nice clean build. Did the kit come with the whitewalls or did you have to apply those as a decal?
Dr. Cranky Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Don't feel bad, you did an excellent job. The best how-to description I've seen on using foil and foiling techniques is in Donn Yost's DVD: TIPS & TRICKS FOR BUILDING SHOW QUALITY MODEL CARS.
W-409 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Nice looking build you have there. And looks like your work with BMF is fine, much better than mine. Color is very good too and it's clean build all over. Great to see Impala with 283 SBC too, not always 327 or 409 (even if Four-O-Nine is the coolest engine in the world).
trogdor Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Nice clean build, nothing to be ashamed about at all.
Greg Pugh Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 (edited) There's a couple of things I like about this one. You almost never this color combination and I dig that you put a small block in it. They didn't all come with 409's. Edited December 4, 2011 by gpugh1976
Old Coyote Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 very nice! I like to see a nice clean build. Did the kit come with the whitewalls or did you have to apply those as a decal? The whitewalls came with the kit B)
walt francis Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 We always perfect what we hate the most...great job !!!
bbowser Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 BMF is frustrating but it makes all the difference. Nice job, love those Impalas.
Deathgoblin Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Looks good to me. I can't see any issues.
ffreak Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Wow, for someone who hates the stuff, you sure did a beautiful job with it !! I really get frustrated using it and have to take regular breaks from it, but I know the end result is worth the effort for me !! Beautiful car man !!
surfjunke Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Very nice clean build. Like the color combo. You did a great job on the BMF. It is a pain to work with, but always worth it.
Peter Lombardo Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Very simple looking in white and red, but man, it looks great. I remember seeing hundreds of Impala's in that color scheme back in the day....it was a very popular combo then, and it looks great today. Nice job.
Guest Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Personally, I think it has a very nice clean look to it John. You don't see many of them painted white, but it surely does suit it well. The more you use BMF, the easier it gets.
High octane Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 That Impala looks good to me John and don't let a sheet of foil intimidate you! If you don't like foiling you can always build street rods or dragsters.
The Modeling Hermit Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 You did a great job with it. I hate BMF too, but the end result is worth all of the frustration.
Chuck Most Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Working with BMF can be a lot of fun, or it can be a huge pain in the rear. Mostly depends on what the last task you accomplished was. Looks like you did a fantastic job on the foil.
Skydime Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 (edited) Ah so what, you didn't foil the lettering...worse come to worse, use a fine tip and silver with a magnifying glass. What you did foil looks good. I think you have a very nice car there. I actually prefer this simpler 64 Impala kit because it doesn't have the stooooopid looking taillights like Revell's. geetee66 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Don't knock it mate! You did a lovely job on your build. Clean and precise. What more does it need?
rmvw guy Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 I have a love/hate relationship with b.m.f. myself. Nice execution in my opinion. Love the small block! It should have been included by the manufacture in all the Impala kits in my opinion. After all, how many 409's did anyone actually see back in the day? Good job!
