Modelmartin Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 I took these pics in a store on Waikiki Beach about 2 1/2 years ago. Hopefully your last meal will stay down!
Zoom Zoom Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 While that paint job is horrendous, the fact that it's on what I consider the ugliest Ferrari ever made, the Mondial, (& I'm a Ferrari fanatic), does tend to lessen my disgust a bit. At least they found some use for that abortion of a Ferrari!!! 8) Um, it's not the ugliest Ferrari ever, a Mondial, but the most boring Ferrari ever, the 348  No loss.
Zoom Zoom Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Bob, you're right! Been a while since I'd seen a Mondial, so my memory was a bit fuzzy! Still the Mondial is the ugliest, on that we can agree!! 8) I am so glad Ferrari got past the cheese grater phase. I wonder if "Mondial" is Italian for "Limburger"?
gasman Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 when I bought my truck in November I bought if off an Aston Martin dealer. while waiting for my paper work to get done, They had a nice black on black 348 Spyder in the showroom, nice car, thought it was a little cheap inside, but a nice car, not as nice as the 07 Vantage I sat in after that

mikelo Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Just shows you can't buy taste. ...What I really want to know is.....what is the deal with the dolphin's back side on the hood?! :?
jbwelda Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 ive seen what i consider a whole lot worse that a lot of people here might think is fantastic. there is truly no accounting for taste (and anything that is driven on the street with bigger than about 16" wheels proves that very well. or anything with the name "boyd" attached to it). anyone with money for a ferrari has money to completely ruin it and just move on when they realize what theyve done. kind of like those who wear rolex watches. kind of screams "hey i can lose this 5000 $ watch and just go buy another...no biggie"
Smart-Resins Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Well there are several train of thoughts here. Looking at the background wich I can not "sea" much of, it appears as though a art gallery. Considering the location, the dolphin subject is a befitting subject. Considering a art gallery, the chances are the artist was more likely(percentage wise) a female. So it again seams beffitting!! Just a very expensive art easle!! One that the artist can drive around for a little while until they decide to do another paint job on it. I have seen some lowriders and tuners with some very loud and noisy paint jobs that I certainly would prefer to have puked on!! However each artist or owner views things differently. That subject is just a reminder of how differently I see things and lets me appreciate my work much more!!
Modelmartin Posted May 18, 2007 Author Posted May 18, 2007 I was reminded of all of those Rolls Royces that were painted like 70s vans for that Rajneesh cult guy in Oregon in the 80s. I saw some of them at auction in Auburn in the late 80s. They were heavily discounted and only a paint job away from being good again! Same with this poor Ferrari. It was in an art gallery featuring Dolphins and other sealife. For someone brought up with a lot of exposure to the fine arts it was pretty ho-hum. It was more for decorating high-end condos and vacation homes than for appreciation of the artist's ability.
LDO Posted May 18, 2007 Posted May 18, 2007 I was reminded of all of those Rolls Royces that were painted like 70s vans for that Rajneesh cult guy in Oregon ....... Bagwan Shree Rajneesh. IMHO, some of them were pretty groovy. There was one that looked like an '80s Indian-influenced take on lace painting. If I could afford it, I'd buy it and drive it as-is. The Ferrari on the other hand....well, that's just ugly. The artwork itself is not great quality. That's the problem with 99% of the airbrushed artwork on cars. It was done by a talentless hack. People see a mural and go all gaga over it because they don't have the ability to step back and say "Wow. that looks like poop"
Eric C Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I saw this same car, maybe 5 years ago, in Vegas. It was in a high-end art gallery featuring sculptures of various sea-life. At that time the Ferrari was for sale and if I remember correctly, it had a BIG price-tag on it for a 348. The sculptures were really amazing....
Jeff Johnston Posted May 20, 2007 Posted May 20, 2007 I just said to myself "the Modial is not a bad looking car"...which its not. But then I thought I coul prove it was not the ugliest Ferrari...which I could not. LOL Yup...the Mondial is definitely the ugliest Ferrari. But then that's like asking who is the ugliest Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.... ;-)
Modelmartin Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 The Mondial is the ugliest Ferrari. It's an abortion! The Mondial convert is even uglier. Pull the motors and crush them! Ugly is just ugly even if it is a Ferrari. The 348 is OK for a typical gold-chain owner type of Ferrari.
