Prostreet Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 That engine is a piece of art Dave, I actually seen pictures of the engine before posted here last week, That is the best looking weld I have ever seen, I asked Dave about it also, Dave said he is sworn not to indulge the way it is done. bummer for us , but I respect that.

Hum.... that is a bummer! I know Clay was saying he was going to do something with detailing welds as well. Sounds like the two of them are creating a conspiracy in the modeling community! LOL I did a quick Google Search and look what I came up with... http://www.bigscalemodels.com/tips/tipsfiles/scaleweld.pdf Edited May 14, 2012 by eviltwincustoms
comp1839 Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 drew up some plans for my bellhousing over the weekend. i finally got the chance today to machine it.
old-hermit Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I noticed you have been using a lot of Renshape or similar material for machining. Is it dense enough to create a good finish or do you use a filler primer to make it smooth afterward ?
Mooneyzs Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 That Bell Housing is just killer Dave... Very nice work man. The engine and tranny look great together!!!
Romell R Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Awesome work as usual Dave thanks for sharing with us.
mopar68 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Why the secret? I have no problem sharing my tips (the few of which I have). Can't see what harm would come of making everyone a better modeler Still, fair enough I suppose if that's his decision. Great work on this Dave I'm really enjoying it
old-hermit Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Did y'all ever consider that Dave might really weld parts and not fake it ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DO094tgdqcs
vintagedragfan Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 very impressive stuff as usual Dave! really diggin the valve cover bolts too !! hehe

Prostreet Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) WOW, That engine is a piece of art Dave, I can not wait to see the intake on it. I hope i can one day pull off something that nice. Edited May 26, 2012 by Prostreet
futurattraction Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) No words to describe how I'm feeling now... Okay... Blown away. If you matched that pic up against a 1:1 engine, I'd half the people would say yours is the real one and the 1:1 was the model! Edited May 26, 2012 by futurattraction
John Teresi Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Dave.....you are doing this car justice......Rock On brother!!!!!.......AWESOME!!!!!!!!
W-409 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 The engine and transmission are looking great, as always! This is absolutely incredible build. It's hard to realize, how big it really is so would it be possible to get one picture of that engine with somekind of "normal" thing we use often, like Matchbox?
