Nitrozilla Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 I like this sooooo much. Maybe Darryl will let you borrow his "Mr. Twister" handle while your working on this?
horsepower Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 When it's ready for paint, you need to find some pics of Jac Haudenschild's 22 car from 99, the one with the Kryptonite (until DC comics made him change it to Atomic) paint scheme. His nickname of "Wild Child" fits this build perfectly.
shucky Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Another unbelievable build! Just flat out awesome scratchbuilding! Really reminds me of the "speed freaks" line by Terry Ross. Outstanding build, cant wait to see more.
tyrone Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Umm,,, dont know how I missed this, but this is some awesome work you got going here...
Psychographic Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 I have one header finished and ran out of supplies to make the other one. The LHS is out of stock on what I need. What I would give to have one 1/8" rod right now. Other than the driver, the left side header is the last thing to fabricate. The tubes are 3/16" tube and the "collector" is 7/16". Hopefully my driver figure will show up today.
Nitrozilla Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 That's a shame. I hear all of the hobby shops are open 24 hours a day on the Light Side of the Moon........
Psychographic Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) That's a shame. I hear all of the hobby shops are open 24 hours a day on the Light Side of the Moon........ They don't alow us dark siders on the light side. Meet, Supersonicus Idioticus, he's won with the USAC, WoO, All Stars and the Pa Posse, so you know he knows how to get things done. To be honest, I think it's his short T-Rex arms that gives him such lightning quick reflexes. Edited December 31, 2011 by Psychographic
Psychographic Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) I wasn't happy with the wings, they were too normal looking compared to the rest of the car. Here's the new top wing. This has to be the absolute worst angle to view this build. But from the back, it looks perfect. Edited January 9, 2012 by Psychographic
thumper86 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Ok thats the coolest thing I've seen in a very long time!
Psychographic Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 The new front wing is smaller and fits a little better.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 All this proves you are having a blast building this one. Great work, and truly amazing scratch-building. I hope you are considering building a custom base/scene for this one.
Psychographic Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) This might very well be the last piece to be fabricated, the left side header. It is also about the hardest part to make so far, this is attempt number two. I think I'll get it on this attempt. I figured the individual pieces needed to make this came out to about 475, I might have missed some. If you count reject parts, probably over 550. It has been a fun build. Tony-442 Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Wow, Amazing Job Dave... Can't wait to see in paint!
Psychographic Posted January 9, 2012 Author Posted January 9, 2012 (edited) A quick trip to the band saw to cut the slits for the bend on the collector and the header is almost done. Once the glue dries, it's heat and form to the header tubes along with a trim and this one is done. Formed and trimmed. I forgot I made a radiator for the car, I still need to make hoses and a cap. Psychographic Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Fabrication is done! Tomorrow, it gets stripped down and the bodywork begins. These are the pics of the final mockup,

I hope you are considering building a custom base/scene for this one. Doc, you can bet Eyegore's favorite hydrant that I'm making a base for it. I'm gonna need some of your weathering tips to dirty this up a bit.
Scott Colmer Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 David, this is a masterpiece. I wish they made a kit like this. I would have to buy it. Totally great! Scott
mrm Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 So incredibly awesome. I absolutely love it when I see models created with "out-of-the-box-mentality". I don't even know for sure what these type of cars are called, but this is one of the coolest things I have seen.

Thank you, I was inspired to build this by another member, it has been a lot of fun and I've learned a lot also. Alyn Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 man, you are on top of the mountain. This car is indescribably fantastic in both creativity and execution. Find a way to add another 400 parts so we can keep watching.

The frame recieved some color today, here's a little peak. Edited January 11, 2012 by Psychographic
Psychographic Posted January 11, 2012 Author Posted January 11, 2012 One of the stipulations on hiring Supersonicus Idiodicus was a new suit and helmet The suit came back, the helmet is still at the painters.
