mrmike Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 My version of Det. Dwight Hendricks '64 GTO from the recently cancelled TNT TV series, Memphis Beat is done!
Danno Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 MEMPHIS BEAT CANCELLED!?!? That's it...i'm going to stop liking good shows! Every time a show comes along i'm into poof! It get's cancelled. Nice build though. X2! Always happens, doesn't it?! Really enjoyed that show. Now, just don't tell the networks that I like NCIS, NCIS-LA, In Plain Sight, or Justified.
Erik Smith Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 That turned out great. Absolutely no trace of that red plastic! I like the color and nice work on the paint job. I love the design and simple lines of the '64 Pontiacs.
Dirkpitt289 Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 They canceled the show? Well the show will live on forever in this build. Well done Mike
Tom Setzer Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Nice Goat! Everytime I really like a TV Show it seems they kill it!
Rob Hall Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Nice....didn't the ads for that show originally have a Chevelle?
bbowser Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 Very nice build. I too liked the show, so of course it's gone. Gotta love it when the hero drives a muscle car! (Nash Bridges?)
scalenut Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 (edited) Nice....didn't the ads for that show originally have a Chevelle? The car Dwight Hendricks drives in the series is a 1964 Pontiac GTO, the car shown in the opening with Charlie "Whitehead" White getting out of the driver side is a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle with an SS-396 hood but with a 283 small block emblem on the front fender [imdb] I have a 64 on the worktable , not sure what to do with it yet Nice job, Mrmike ! Joe Handley Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 (edited) Love the build Mike! as for the show being killed off......NNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited December 29, 2011 by Joe Handley
mrmike Posted December 29, 2011 Author Posted December 29, 2011 Thank you guys! Yes, the ads did show a Chevelle, but the car that was used in the series was the '64 GTO. In the pilot, actor Jason Lee's actual '64 GTO was used and the car received substantial damage during filming and required 5 months to repair. Producers quickly found either a '64 GTO or LeMans/Tempest modified to look like Jason's '64 GTO. I hate it when TV shows lack the contunity necessary especially when it comes to something as predominate as the hero's car, weapon, or even the place they live in. Memphis Beat was light on the action and the sub-plot of a police detective who moonlights as a singer seemed a little far-fetched. Not that it wasn't feasible...just a little far-fetched.
Danno Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 ... and the sub-plot of a police detective who moonlights as a singer seemed a little far-fetched. Not that it wasn't feasible...just a little far-fetched. Not so much. You might be surprised at the part-time occupations some law enforcement officers have. Singer? Not so unusual.
