brett Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Fictitious dragstrip, going for an early eighties vibe so my 70's funny car builds will suit as well. Based on an old table top so its about 5 feet long 3 feet wide. Dirt bank, not sure I'm happy with it yet, made out of polystyrene packing. Once the armco and fence signage goes in front it might not be so bad. An armco and fence will go on the near side as well as the control tower with maybe a grandstand. Heaps to do just started yesterday, this is really intended for a photo background for some fun shots, but all suggestions are welcomed
Dr. Cranky Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 I like it, where did the light tree come from? I think you are going to have lots of fun with this one.
jerseyjunker1 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 that looks great right now. i can imagine when its done. great work. i would like to see some shots of the p/up junker diorama you have in the backround. looks cool as heck.

Dr. Cranky Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Looking good. That tower is going to add the perfect touch of realism.
gasser59 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Progressing nicely Brett. This is going to add so much more realism to your photos. I like where you're going with this.

crazyjim Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Very cool. Would it make sense to have some kind of fencing to protect the fans and TV crews?
Sixties Sam Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 That's looking good! Great concept and well done! I agree it needs a safety fence for the spectators. Nice work! Sam
brett Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Thanks guys, yeah I'm working on some fencing, the track side armcos are whats giving me problems though. Still gotta do the starters box etc , heaps to do on the tower, a bunch of figures still to paint the list gos on but I'm inspired to keep working on it again now

modelmarknz Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Wow that`s coming around nicely Brett .... Wouldn`t be a strip without some girls...Bud... Good to see the crowd getting under there umbrellas, looks like a hot day on and off the track.
Mister Twister Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I really like this Brett....I'll be looking forward to more! Keep at it...
1320wayne Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 Awesome job so far Brett. I've always wanted to do something like this but have been a bit overwhelmed with how many people I think would be needed to be convincing, but that's just me. What you've got is great and is coming along nicely. Can't wait to see more.
brett Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 Thanks guys, I'm flying to Australia tonight so wont be around for the next week and a bit (Winternationals baby). so will be scouting around some hobby shops while I'm over there for bits and pieces. Wayne, yeah people are a big issue but so far I have around 20 more than whats displayed already. The good thing is they can be added in at any stage and I'll pin them all through their feet so can be used in other dios as needed. This isn't a permanent setup just a photo base that takes a bout 15 minutes to set up (so far). Thanks again for looking in and any comments advice etc is appreciated.
brett Posted July 30, 2012 Author Posted July 30, 2012 Thanks Riley,Just a quick teaser will shot with the armcos in place, need to put the post holes in so I cant mount them now
charlie8575 Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 Very cool, Brett. I'll enjoy the finished product. For curiosity's sake- is drag racing and funny car racing popular in New Zealand and Australia? Charlie Larkin
