Harold Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) This is one I started last summer. Since my workbench was downstairs, it survived the fire. I removed all the emblems save for the V8 logo on the fenders and extended the taillight pods with aluminum tubing and Bondo. The headlights were frenched and the car was shot with a Plasti- Kote color called Brook Blue. The interior was built box stock save for some custom mixed flocking. The chassis recieved lowering blocks on the rear axle and the front suspension components were drilled and pinned to create posable steering. The drilled rotrs are from an XS wheel and tire set. The wheels are from the Revell '50 Ford pickup with tires from the '72 Cutlass. I used the Ardun conversion from the pickup and fitted a high rise manifold with carbs from the Thunderbolt. The whole thing is topped off with an air cleaner from the parts box. I know the distributor is wrong now- I stupidly used the box art model as reference because I couldn't find the instructions for the pickup. Oops. Its raining today, so I decided to put the top up. rmvw guy Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Nice job, it looks good! It makes me want to do one of these. Love the '50s!
bbowser Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Very nice. 50's Fords are very cool. I like the extended taillights. Is that the stock grille?
Harold Posted May 26, 2012 Author Posted May 26, 2012 Yup, its the stock grille. I also used the custom bullet taillights from an AMT '57 Ford.
my66s55 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I like your choice of colors and those wheels look great on it.
Bartster Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 I love everything about this build. Simply beautiful! That air cleaner looks like the one from the '60 Ford Starliner kit?
Sixties Sam Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Very nice! The extended taillight pods are a nice touch. Great color choice, too. Sam
