Dr. Cranky Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Man, lucky you, I am still waiting for mine to arrive. Looking forward to more progress.
martinfan5 Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 Man, lucky you, I am still waiting for mine to arrive. Looking forward to more progress. I bought mine from Tower Hobbies, I was still awake in the am when I receive the in stock email, so I ordered them right then, plus got free shipping You know I love a good movie car build. This is one of my favorite ones too. I intend to do my first one (Dr. Cranky oughta love this!) as Ray Stantz found her. An oxidised and rusty white and grey primer behemoth with one wheel in the auto-graveyard. I think that is a cool idea, if I can ever learn how to weather, thats one I would like to do as well
martinfan5 Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 Getting a little more done Almost ready for to start painting the body I removed the plastic between the rails for the roof rack, it will do two things, one look better, and two make it easier to paint, the rails being black, and the middle part of the roof rack being white. I will use sheet styrene on the back side. And then removed the top part of the carrier center where on Ecto 1A the red light sits, but its not there on Ecto 1
Zarana-X Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I will have to get the money to buy this kit and do it properly. I bought Ecto II when it was new and converted it to a hearse, a rusty hearse, before It became cool. It came out OK, but I kinda regret not having the Ghostbusters car. Will keep an eye on this build as I woudl want to do the 1st version as well.
LAone Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 ah sweet, im gonna have to get a few as well...lols coming along nicely, looking forward to some more.
martinfan5 Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 I have almost got the body painted, will post pics soon, as for the rest of the kit, I am waiting to proceed , the reason is I need to get the correct tires and wheels, correct rear bumper. Well I came accross a Polar Lights kit of Ecto1 that , and i will know if I am going to get it in four days, if so that will save me a ton of work and money on buying the parts I need .
Jdurg Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I'll have to follow this build closely. Although I only build Corvettes, I have no issues building famous movie cars. The Ghostbusters Car and the BttF DeLorean are two that I'll have to add to my builds at some point. Would also give me a reason to spend the $20 on a can of the white paint used on the 1953 Corvette since I'd also be able to use it here.

I want to do all three of the BTTF Deloreans, from time to time I see the three pack kit on ebay. Here is a very small update, well I am going back to my original plan, so now I can get back to work on this one, I BMF this monster, its not the greatest, but BMF and me dont like each other, I think would rather pull of my finger nails then BMF . I have started clear coating it already
