How about motorcycles? ,, got a seprate section for them? and where do you post an ElCamino or Ranchero? El Caminos are cars. But I guess they could be posted as cars or trucks... just use common sense. Motorcycles go in "Other Models." If you would just read the categories and descriptions it would answer all of your questions. It's all spelled out pretty clearly, I don't see why you're having such a hard time getting this? Or are you just in the mood to argue?

Last time this arguement came around those of us on this side of it made some good points and you eventually agreed with out way of thinking that they should be in the regular catagorys and you said you'd discus it with Gregg. Nothing could be done until next time the forum was reorganised. But, hey , that's OK. I'm just a visitor here, I have no stake in this forum. I did things this way because I think this breakdown works best for the most people. Not all will agree, of course... I knew that going in, but I actually put some thought into this, I didn't just go in and start moving stuff around at random. No way I could do this in a way that would satisfy everyone. But I do think this layout makes sense and should work well. And notice that I pulled the truck section up right below the car section... so now truck guys don't have to go down in the forum "basement" to post!
Big Daddy Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) A model is a model they should all be allowed in the under glass section IMO , Edited June 7, 2012 by Big Daddy

Also an ElCamino and Ranchero have been deemed to be a Cruck, so they would fit in both categories!

brad4321 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I'm scared to post anything on this website in fear I may have the wrong category. So generally, I just sit back and watch.

I think that historically the problem is that when posts are moved into a more appropriate category, there is seldom any notification about why it was moved or where it went, though it happens on occasion. But with the new format, there shouldn't be much confusion. Just common sense. Edited June 7, 2012 by sjordan2

I may separate them into "On the Bench" and "Under Glass" at some point, but that means going in and literally looking at every single truck post and moving each of them, one by one, into the correct new spot. That's a lot of work and very time-consuming. Maybe I'll do it, though... I have to think about that. It would be nice but that's just me. But on another note I do like how it's changing for the better.

In your library, the fiction books and the carpentry books and the cookbooks would all be mixed up together, because hey, they're all books, right? Good luck to anyone trying to find a particular book in that library... The whole point here is to keep things separated so that it's easier for people to find what they're looking for. Some people build mostly (or only) cars... some mostly (or only) trucks...some a little of both... but no matter which one you're more interested in, keeping them separated makes it easier for everyone to know where to find what. It's not a matter of certain models not being "allowed" in certain areas, it's about keeping things organized. I really don't get why some of you keep arguing against this. It makes no sense to me. And for those of you who ask, "well then, why not a separate section for show rods? Why not a separate section for dirt track racers, etc.", the answer is, it's a matter of finding a balance between having enough separate categories to make it somewhat easy to find things and going overboard and having a separate category for every possible thing. Like I said earlier... there is no way possible to arrange this place to please everyone. I thought about it logically, and this is what I came up with. Is this the absolute final? Not necessarily. I'm always open to suggestions, and things may change yet (but probably not very drastically). But let's live with this for a while and see how it goes. I really think that most members will not have a problem with the new layout.

For example, I think moving a post about how to use a certain primer from "Under Glass" to "How Do I?" (yes, people post questions about primer in "Under Glass"... ) should be explanation enough.
bbowser Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I like the changes Harry, but (there's always a 'but') where would you post an Indycar, winged sprintcar, Lemans prototype, etc.? They're not Nascar, nor Drag. But then again I don't see much of those type racing rigs on here so I guess it's not a big problem.

A Race Car or competition section would be a good idea, I know Harry was thinking about that as well, either way, I think Harry did a good job, now its just going to take some time getting use to the new layout
Harry P. Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I thought about combining the separate NASCAR and Drag categories into one "Competition" category. I may still do that.
crazyjim Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I usually just click on view new content so I guess I'll have to in and check it out.
