Very cool Fairlane! Paint job truly pops in my eye, and I like the engine detailing too. Wheel and tire choice looks good too. Nice to see one beautiful Fairlane without too big wheels and ugly flat tires. B)

Very well done! Anything with a side oiler is O.K. in my book, especially detailed out like yours. Me and a buddy of mine shared a paper route back in the late sixties and we used to make our deliveries in his Dad's '65 Galaxie wagon that, believe it or not, had a 427 side oiler! That thing would scream even though it was full of newspapers. It was fine as long as you didn't have to TURN.

Nice, but remove the N/Stock decal or replace the 427 with a 289 .......... the 427 fairlanes ran anywhere from A,B,C or D/Stock.

Oh, didn't notice the Stock Eliminator markings.

Don't know, what your goal was with this build, but it doesn't look like Stocker. I mean that exhaust pipes are unnecessary stuff, and I guess that it has exhaust manifolds either than headers? Other that that, it looks like cool Stocker from the 60's or 70's. Nice build anyway.

Was going for the look of somone getting the stock fairlane from the dealer popping the hubcaps off adding some slicks and going to the track then puttingvthe stock tires on it and driving it home.....did not build as a lightweight car .... but a weekend warrior from the late 60s...thank you for the great feedback and I can change the N stock designation in the future....was going by the figures of a stock fairlane 1/4 mile times from 66 with no major mods.....

What that kit is, is a 66 R Code 427 Fairlane basically a 66 Thunderbolt. For 66 there was only 56 or so made, some numbers are as high as 70 .... all were as follows, wimbldon white, black bench seat interior, 4 speed only, 9 inch Nod. All were the 425hp dual 4bbl with glass ramair lift off hood, radio clock delete. Now for 67 there was a 410hp single 4bbl eng. option that came with the stock flat steel hood, other color as well as interior trim levels available for 67 ........

If you saw a 66-7 Fairlane N/S it would have been a 289 4spd definately NOT a 427 car or 390 for that matter

Another thing I notice on most builds of this kit and the 67 Comet, nobody adds fabbed or resin cast upper shock mounts to the front spring/shock towers which are so blatantly missing from these kits..................

The 427 lightweights were all white cars this was a 427 build as if it was not a lightweight....as for the N designation I will make that change.from what i have been getting here a D should be a better choice for a stock 427 Fairlane..thank you for the information on that.... as for the shock mounts, i know they are missing... this kit should have had them on such a nice kit ..... have some resin ones coming so I can add them.....as soon as I have them they will be installed....ordered them about 2 weeks ago so I should have them shortly.....

Actually the R Code 427 Fairlanes were not "lightweight" cars like the Galaxy.

Who casts the shock mounts ?

I like that "You" built it for "You"

:D

Had been a "museum" piece, then maybe, on the details . . . . .

I really like the engine detail you did, I like the decals, very clean!

I like the seat pattern, decal or painted?

What did you use for the trunk liner? Nice touch.

I would really like to know what that green is you used on the body!

Looks like just the color I am looking for a certain mustang build I have.

:D

Real sharp build!

Thank You for sharing

Russ....

thank you for your comments about the fairlane.....the seat pattern is from scale motorsports and the trunk liner is also from scale motorsports.....

the paint is Tamiya racing green with acme urethane clear...the green was the closest i could find to match the ford dark green....it really is a great color.....again thanks for the comments.....

I agree with the general consensus that AMT really dropped the ball by omitting the shock mount top assemblies. Would you mind sharing your source for the resin units you have coming?

I'll be interested in seeing whether you'll have to sand some material off the tops of the shock towers so that the resin pieces won't affect the way the hood sits. It doesn't look like AMT left you a whole lot of space to play with.

Please post pics when the parts come in.

Having them cast from the AMT torino kit.... hoping they will look ok... dont know how much room i have but plan on making them work... if they work out ok may see if i can get more made and maybe offer to others.....heard that missing link resins had them but do not believe that is so at this time...

Please post pics when the parts come in.

Pics will be forthcoming

On the off chance that those turn out to be less than satisfactory, here are a couple other solutions
