BOX JEEP

I decided to build a jeep in the box as they have been transported during WW II in Europe in aid of Leand-lease

I wonder were they packed the jeep's in the crates at ? All the film I have seen here on Toledo PBS station shows them driving them off the line. They must have done a few checks before crating them up.

Cool idea, and I always pictured them being dropped from airplanes with all four wheels and a parachute. lol. Very educational!

They Built then Crated up for storage, or for shipping over seas! I bought a crated jeep back in the 60's they sold in lots of three for $350.00 each, the only thing that was wrong, the tires were dry rotted, and they smelled bad, after a new battery and four tires we had a great time,

I sold mine when our first child was coming, and today it's got a 325 Chevy, big ole tires and runs great with plenty more up graded parts, the only difference with this build and mine, mine had brake drums on the axels, and the container was army green or drab.

What was the year of the Jeep you purchased ? I only ask because my grandfather worked at Willy's during the war.

If I could make one suggestion- I'd add some brake drums to the axles. The jeep looks a little bit naked without them.

I remember reading somewhere about a collector in France who found about a half dozen surplus jeeps still in the crates in a warehouse... in the early 1990's.

Thanks to you like, with the jeep in the chest it was so, that even in the 90 collectors in the U.S. gave $ 50 for the original box jeep, but in fact the original jeep in located in the sunken ship recharges its way to Europe

Yeap!! thats got it captured really well!,when my dad was restoring a 1:1 CJ3A there was a surplus jeep parts dealer in Salem Oh. that actually had one of these in the warehouse,not for sale of course,but very cool!!
