ChevyCoupe41 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Is there any kind of resin bodys or kits cast from '41 Chevrolet Coupe? Body should be un chopped and very close of original. My dad has that kind of 1:1 Chevy and it would be nice to do model of that car. If you have seen any of them please let me know.
george 53 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Only stock 41 Chevy I know of is a die cast by Danbury Mint. Testors does a Hot Rodded version too. RMR makes a BEAUTIFULLY CHOPPED 41 chevy that's VERY nice. Danbury Mints 41 is about 130 bucks or so, The Testors Die Cast is about 21 bucks at Micheals Craft Stores and RMR's is about 40 bucks or so. Hth.
jeffs396 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Matti, here's a diecast thread on the Testors '41: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=59510
Ace-Garageguy Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 The '41 thru '48 Chevys shared body shells, suspension, engines, frames, etc. The post WWII '46-'48 cars were facelifted '42s, and '41 was the first version of this particular model run. A starting point for a '41 might be the Galaxie '48 Chevy. It would take a fair bit of work, but it's possible. Though the Galaxie '48 is a fastback, the roofline from a Monogram '39 could be a start there.
Steven Zimmerman Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I seem to recall an old Model cars magazine where either Gregg or Jairus (or both) started this conversion, using the Galaxie Chevy, and the Monogram '39....'Z'

If so, a '41 Coupe Conversion could very easily be done. Hmmmm! Art
Steven Zimmerman Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I had heard this too, and am on pins and needles !
ChevyCoupe41 Posted June 26, 2012 Author Posted June 26, 2012 Well nice to know that there is couple of ways to do replica of my dads Chevy. That galaxie Coupe sounds very intresting and it could be the easiest way to start converion to '41. Almost the only things what needs to do for converion is modified front fenders and doors. Front grille an front lights could be very easy to modified one of those diecast kits parts. Thank's guys for all of that information. Here's Couple of pics of my dads '41 Chevy coupe Hot Rod. This side profile pic shows that how those front fenders and doors had to look.
Jantrix Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 There is a diecast that looks pretty good and could be useful modifying a Galaxie kit if they ever make one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Testors-1941-Chevy-Coupe-Scale-1-24-Diecast-Factory-Sealed-/290733496841?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item43b1111a09
Casey Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Here are some pics of the two diecast '41 Chevy models: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=59510&st=0&p=722890&hl=+41%20+chevy&#entry722890
W-409 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I would take the body from that Diecast & Chassis and interior and engine parts from other Model Kits, where those parts are pretty close of original '41 Chevys parts.
novadose71 Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Galaxie is most definitely releasing the 46-48 coupe in the near future. Gary Schmidt brought a built up to Milwaukee NNL last April, looks good too. He said it was the 3rd test shot he had received and they want to make sure everything is right. They are also making some other minor changes to the molds to make them more builder friendly.
Steven Zimmerman Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Matti, those pics are GREAT reference pics, and love the car too....Thanks !....'Z'
59 Impala Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 I built those two cars. The one with the flames had tail lights, trunk handle, outside mirrors and hood chrome missing. The tail lights and trunk handle were copied from the 48 Chevy from Galaxie and had the bottom part of the lights cut off for the 41. I made the outside mirrors from Evergreen stock and painted black. I used Evergreen stock for the hood chrome also. Also, one of the wipers was missing and I had to make that. The black one has parts from Monograms 53 Corvette on it to represent a hot rod from the early 50's. It also has primer on the front end and the bottom parts of the doors to represent body work in progress. Dan
ChevyCoupe41 Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Thanks guys for those tips and Steven thank's and if you want more reference pics just ask and i took as many as you need. It's hot rod so there's much of un original parts like V8 engine, Jaguar seats etc. but much details which are mostly original.
rickcaps55 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Check with Star models resin I just looked at the R&R resin he has and they show a 48 chevy coup that looks very doable I have got many kits from Steve he is a great guy to buy from good luck.
dimaxion Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Thanks guys for those tips and Steven thank's and if you want more reference pics just ask and i took as many as you need. ChevyCoupe41 Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 I am confused . No Stock parts ? They lost me then .. Thanx.. Now i am confused. It's hot rod so it is kind a normal thing that there's "some" un original parts but also original parts. Thank's anyway for your comment.
