Dave Mikrut Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I'm starting a Bantam hot rod using an original Sizzler kit body and filling in the wheelwells. This is going to be a wild one and here's what I got so far today.
george 53 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 AMT 53 studebaker kit. Dave, you gonna put this body on fenders, or is it just the body on frame type rod???
george 53 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 If your talkin about the blower set up, ALL the releases got 'em. Sorry to hijak yer thread Dave.
Dave Mikrut Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Here's the photo that got me to thinking I'd like to make this hot rod. Mine will be chopped and have a wilder engine!
bryan_m Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 nice start dave! that double blown hemi will be sweet in there too.....what a killer engine! bryan
MAGNUM4342 Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Well this is embarrasing! I thought I clicked on "BATMAN hotrod"! I've heard of modeler's ADD, is there a such thing as modeler's dyslexia? Figures your mind would go that direction! Dave- Do you mean Sizzler as in gas pump shaped charger, wide plastic track, runs just long enough to get bored with Sizzler's?
Dave Mikrut Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Here's the old Monogram Sizzler kit I'm gleeped the Bantam body from,,,
Chuck Most Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 Well this is embarrasing! I thought I clicked on "BATMAN hotrod"! I've heard of modeler's ADD, is there a such thing as modeler's dyslexia? Yes, there is. I think you know what your next project should be... I've wanted to do something similar to this for a long time, can't wait to see how this one will turn out.
Sixgunner68 Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 The wilder, the better!!! I"ll be following this one!!!
FASTBACK340 Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Here's the old Monogram Sizzler kit I'm gleeped the Bantam body from,,, Gleeped. There's a word I haven't heard in ages!Cool project. Please follow through!
Guest Johnny Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Going to be a sweet build Dave! Great to see you back too! Missed ya!
Dave Mikrut Posted July 14, 2012 Author Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) I've made a little progress on the chassis. I wanted to make this a unique hot rod so I'm using the front of a 32 ford chassis mated with the L'il Coffin chassis. I added a quick change unit to the rear axle to make it cooler and now I can use the dropped front axle on it too. Next I'll be working on new engine mounts and a floor. Dave Mikrut Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) I'm working on 5 different models right now but I'm rollin real good with this one. I've made motor mounts, transmission rear crossmember which will be further modified and added the transmission with dipstick to the engine. I've also added an oil dipstick to the engine. Floor is almost ready but will have to be modified after engine is permanately determined. Edited July 19, 2012 by Dave Mikrut
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Great job on the engine mounts, crossmember and driveshaft hoop. love the twin-blown Hemi in this too.
