northendmetalallstar Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 My friend wanted to give his Dad, who is retired, a model of the truck he drove back in the 70's. He found the kit he wanted, The Revell Snaptite Mack R series tanker, and asked me if I would build it for him. This was my first commissioned work, LOL I had to cut the sleeper off, shorten the frame and add a few other touches to replicate the original truck. Everything is done in various Alcad finishes and the cab is painted Testors Red Enamel
cappy625 Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 very nice! r model macks pulling tankers were a very common sight here in eastern pa. you still see them often around the philly area.the r model was always and still is my favorite truck.
BigBad Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Nice Mack! very cleanly built. Those R series looked pretty good, they were recognizable from a distance and nothing else looked quite like it. Not quite a classic like the B but close.
mistermodel Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Nice build.I just got one today a Micheals for $9.99,couldn't pass it up.Painted the cab already,if it looks as good as yours I'll be happy
Chariots of Fire Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 James II: Believe it to be 1/32 scale if it was a snap kit. That is a super clean build. Very nice work, Jay!
doogie7046 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Excellent job!! Looks great as a daycab and the paint looks awesome.

I haven't been to Michael's in a while and thought they were kinda expensive last time I was in. Which one did you go to? I will have to check out the one in Mississauga later this week.

Very nice work, Jay!Indeed. In the '80s my Dad used the tractor kit, to create an Israeli Tank transporter, which was publicized in one of the Verlinden Books. Great job Jay!
