sak Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 It is finished for now. I had a glue catastrophe and spilled superglue on the roof, front windshield and rocker panel and the front bumper. I usually wrap the body in saran wrap when I am glueing something but was in a hurry and somehow got a small drop of glue on my finger and it went everywhere. Managed to wetsand and polish most of it out. Then the rear windshield broke loose at the top edge. And I scratched up the inside bad tryin to pry up on it until the glue dried. I am searching flea markets for another and when I do I will build another body and transfer this chassis to that one. Until then I do not want to even look at this one again and only want to focus on learning from my mistake and get into the next one.
crazyjim Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I don't see anything but a real nice little Nova that's SHINY :) . Real nice looking build.
TooOld Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Absolutely the nicest looking '66 I've seen ! The front grille and headlights are the mostrealistic I've seen . I'll send you a replacement kit if you will send this one to me !

kobuzz Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 WOW! Very nice. How did you make the front look so real??
Dominik Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) It looks beautiful with that color. Like it and there is nothing to see from supergluecatastrophe. Good job! Edited September 16, 2012 by Dominik
cobraman Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I think we may have been punked. When I read the post I though " Oh boy this is going to be a mess" but when I saw the photos............. Booya.....it looks very nice.
Rob McKee Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 As the others have said that is one of the nicest Novas I have ever seen. One heck of a job cleaning up the mess you talk about. You should be proud of your recovery from the CA mishap.
CorvairJim Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 What a great Nova! As you can probably tell from my photo to the left of this post, I'm partial to Lemonwood Yellow on 1966 Chevys. Where did you find such a close match? I'd like to get my hands on some so that I can replicate the car in the photo, the best Corvair I ever owned.
slusher Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Nothing but a real sharp model pictured. nice color choice...
roadhawg Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Beautiful build! I'm a big fan of this generation Nova...the last 1:1 I built was a '66. Yours is VERY nice! Where did you find such a close match? I'd like to get my hands on some so that I can replicate the car in the photo, the best Corvair I ever owned. Try Scale Finishes, if it's not listed send him and email and he'll mix it for you.
sak Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Thank you for the kind words. I chose my angles to hide the mistakes and the color is ford phoenician yellow. By testors.
Sixties Sam Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 It's a beauty! Great recovery from the glue spill! I like the yellow color. Sam
Grumpa Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Really nice looking Nova Jeff. If you hadn't mentioned the little glue issue, I would have never known. It's a great looking build.
Gluhead Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Sounds like a Murphy finish! I hate those, too. lol. But it looks like you pulled it through well. It looks great.
72 Charger Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Very realistic nova nice rescue i cant see a trace of super glue at all Doobie
