2002p51 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) The other day, while I was routing around in my stash looking for an engine for the '48 Ford Rag Top I came across this: The Monogram Hertz Mustang GT350H. It was sitting there in the box, 90% finished. I forgot I even had it! Everything was painted, even the stripes, (The Monogram decals were brown not gold so I painted the stripes) the chassis was done, wheels painted and detailed, engine done. I have no idea why I put it away so close to being finished, but all it took was a little foil work around the windows and final assembly. Any of you guys ever do that? rmvw guy Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) That looks way to nice to be put away in a box and forgotten! Maybe it had something to do with the decals being wrong, no I think it may have been the BMF (I hate that stuff). I have done that, the one that comes to mind is a SS454 pickup, I put it away for over 10 years. I used to do that all the time, paint them and put them away, that's the part I enjoy the most. I would let my son build them when he was growing up, he never liked to paint them. Thanks for sharing and the memories. Edited September 19, 2012 by rmvw guy

cobraman Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 That is one very cool looking Mustang. Good job !
Miatatom Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Beautiful work, especially the BMF. This is another one I want to build eventually. You did a great job!
ssroczyn Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Nice Build! After seeing this, it sure makes me glad I have one in my stash ready to build!! Good Job! Steve
Monty Posted September 21, 2012 Posted September 21, 2012 Geeez, Drew, I wish I could open some old boxes and find well-built, ready-to-finish kits like yours. For some reason, you just don't seem like the type of person who'd get a model that close to being finished & then put it away. Glad you found this one again! I've gotten used to seeing your name associated with various race car models over the years, so it's nice to see you apply your talents to a street machine like this. Well done!
Brudda Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Gotta love the Shelby Mustangs! Nice job!!!!!
W-Machine Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 Wow! You forgot about THAT! Nice build.

Well, I have to agree with you, I don't know what happened there. I've gotten stuck in the middle of lots of projects and put them away, never again to see the light of day, but I can't explain what the deal was with this one.
1930fordpickup Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 It looks Great ! Such is life . You can never remember why you do the things you do , that is why we leave things in funny places .
surfjunke Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 What a great find! Very glad you finished it. It looks great. Beautiful work.
Rob McKee Posted September 22, 2012 Posted September 22, 2012 I love the car and love how well this model came out. Great job. I do this kind of thing all of the time. Summer is the best time for me to paint so I often paint several kits so I can complete them in the winter months. I do however forget which ones I have done and through the shuffle of finished and started kits I loose track. Every once in a while I will discover a started kit that I have totally forgotten about. Mine never seem to look as good as yours though.
