They look a little bit to big for a model

Edit-UPS just dropped this off, its a F650 diecast, its going to be the tow rig for my Galaixe 44 ft gooseneck trailer

I've got one of those...and the Galaxie trailer years ago. Had the same idea. Wanted to replicate, at least the trailer, of a former co-workers race team hauler.

I have always thought that 44ft gooseneck didnt look right being pulled by a pickup, I cant wait to get the trailer built now to see how it looks

I never did complete that project, so no pic to show you, but I felt the same way about the trailer on a p/u. That's why I bought the Ford die-cast too.

I've always wanted to hit garage sales to see if I could hit a kit or two every now and then, but reeeeaaaalllllyyyy hate getting up early on Saturdays. Well, today I was up earlier as my daughter had a friend over and headed out to a sports card show. On the way home I slowed down for a couple of garage sales I saw, but they didn't look promising so I didn't stop. Then I saw an estate sale sign. Never been real comfortable with those, and have only been to two ever. But, for some reason, after passing it by, I decided to turn around an check it out.

Walk in, turn to the right, and first room was a kids room, looking as though after the kid grew up they just left the room as is. A room full of '70s/'80s stuff, and right there on the closet shelf sat exactly what I would hope to find, an original 1972 1/16 Gene Snow "Snowman" Charger funny car kit. Opened it up, looks to all be there, except the tires have melted. There was even a bottle of model cement, with its .21 cent price tag on it. Some minor assembly had been started, but nothing that can't be fixed and cleaned up. Instructions, decals, box in untorn very good to excellent condition all there. Heck, there was even a pocket knife in the box that I found when I got it home. $5.

In addition, there was another kit I did not recognize, and MPC Howmet TX Turbine Road Racer. Box a bit crushed but in fair condition and everything seems to be there. I will check for sure later. Some minor assembly started, but most parts still on trees. Again, $5.

I may never have such luck again, so am really appreciating my $10 bounty today. Figure I will inventory the Howmet TX and try to sell it.

Thanks for the read.

Rob

I would be so interested in the Howmet. One of my grails. Hope you get back to me with a price.

Thanks. I found a Carquest within 30 mi. of me that I never knew of, called and they had it. Went today and loaded up on it. They had more and said they can get more as I need it !! Thanks Tom and Casey !!

Spoiled myself today, they need a good cleaning and professionally polished but I like em and didn't pay to much. Got to chat with a fellow Mopar enthusiast and got something I needed for my car.

I just picked up the 77 GMC wrecker. I got it mainly for the wheels and tires for a different model but was really disappointed with the wrecker. It should have been a skill one with the lack of parts. Really? The engine molded to the body? I've been toying with some ideas for it later but will be a lot of work now. I'll have to do a lot of cutting and scratch building.

went to buy the 50 olds but it came off as a BLAH kit in my hands bought this instead going to build it for my GF, they had the Foose Firebird kit there and Revell did pull a AMT rides the wheels were junk compared to the box art at least you could see how bad the amt wheels were.

Gotta remember this is from Revell of the 70's (Monogram made the tool for the '77 GMC pickup, which is why it is better quality). What Revell of today should have done was take the '77 GMC pickup kit, and figure out how to combine the two to make a new release of the wrecker without having to make a new tool.

This is why the Reviews sections here are worth reading, or at least looking through, before you plunk down your cash for a kit: http://www.modelcars...1135&hl=wrecker

Didn't actually purchase any new kits today but was able to score a Testors Enamel kit of Flat Military colors, and a Testors Enamel kit of Gloss colors both kits with Metallic Silver and thinner. Each kit came with a hobby throw away knife, three glue tips, five sanding sheets and Testors Clear cement for glass. Also got a bottle of Testors Acrylic thinner, Can of Sunnyside cold lacquer thinner, pack of Xacto #11 replacement blades and a tube of Tamiya putty. Pretty excited to put some of this to use on my second kit. God this hobby is AWESOME.

Doobie, that hood scoop was a factory option on the AMC SC/Rambler. No so much on the "everyday" mundane versions.
