2000-cvpi Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I bought the October issue of MCM yesterday. On Friday I bought some more kit's from a collection. All are unbuilt and I got a good deal on the lot.
RickRollerLT1 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) Not today, but two weeks ago when I was at the LIARS show, I got som '50 Chebie pick-ups CHEAP!! Got the 1998 Coca Cola issue for $5.00 complete, and the custom version from Trucks gift set for another $5.00! And I waz gonna blow $19 on the new release, but sometimes wating for older issues to pop up saves being f***ed out of my cash like no tommorow. The Coke issue is complete, aside from decals and the soda machines, but no biggie as I won't use those parts. The Trucks version is complete, but the body was painted poorly (som PP took care of that) and had the glass cracked into two (easily made a unit from clear plastic kicking around), but the rest was sealed in it's baggies. It also contains a '53 Ford P/U and a '55 Chevy Stepside! The latter was untouched, but the ford was partialy painted/glued, and missing the glass. Again no biggie, as it was only $5 for 3 kits with the 1st two being started, but workable. Edited November 22, 2011 by V-spec
spkgibson Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 An early Christmas gift from my wife, One of my Holy Grails. Mint inside.
spkgibson Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 today i expected to get my order from micro mark including a paasche air brush to hook up to my new harbor freight compressor! gonna finally make the big jump or at least mess around with it. first project is a roth surfite...the yellow is always challenging as i have demonstrated in the horrible mess i have made of the paint on this austin. seriously...the photos cover it but its all pooled up in corners etc and just looks like heck. i am hoping to exercise some discipline and learn to paint properly! i am super excited about learning to airbrush! i also have waiting for me two display counter cases from my local hobby shop that unfortunately is going out of business. real bummer but finally scored some decent display counters! been trying to get some for a decent price for a few years now and these are excellent. so a bright light from behind the dark cloud. got a couple of kits from greg too, great deal for a great cause... Make sure you hook up a moisture catch valve to your compresser. So it doesn't get into your airbrush , Or you will have alot of issues with it. Mine screwed into the side of mine just before the airhose outlet. What that part does is take all for the moisture out of the air hose, And compresser. It acts like a filter is the best way I can describe it, I not sure if thats exactly what they call it, But that part is a MUST have for your compresser. I have actually painted when it was 100% humidity and pouring rain outside and had no issues with it effecting the paint job. I alway set my compresser to 32-35 lbs pressure with my airbush, And always get good results and great coverage with just a few light mist coats, The 3rd and final coat is the heavy coat I put on it. After the mist coats have dryed for about 45 Minutes, Also make sure you use plumbers white sealer tape for all of your connections ,The thin vinyl type To seal up any leaks. If you have any hissing in your lines retighting your connections . How I paint my models is I start at the back of the car, then the driverside, front,Passengerside ,Then angle the car starting form the back,I work my way to the front, Then I do the opposite, Start at the front and work my way back to the trunk, And go past it. I do that 3 times, 2 mist coats, And one have coat, I alway make sure I have the car angled about 45 degrees when I paint the top part of the car. That way you get better coverage . Thats just the method I use when using my airbrush.
Nick Winter Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Some goodies to feed my S series craveings. Guess how the LS will be built. Nick
