1930fordpickup Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Pat in the USA the Z/28 is the only car you could get a 302 in. Also the cross ram is rare original option.
1930fordpickup Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Went through a friends collection he bought, I like what you picked out .
crazyjim Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 That Z28 Camaro is on my workbench right now.
dublin boy Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Just checked and the GTi out and it has the same hubcaps, looks like Revell as something up their sleeve ... It's not a Police jam jar, no hubcaps.
GeeBee Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 It's not a Police jam jar, no hubcaps. Really ??
dublin boy Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) That was for the Amsterdam cops with the posh version and moustashes back in the day. Seriously a Police convertible? LOL Edited February 4, 2015 by dublin boy
High octane Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 While I had the Mongoose Duster Funny Car kit before, I guess I had sold it somewhere down the line. After I finally saw the movie The Snake & Mongoose, I had to have it again so I bought it at one of my FAVE hobby shops today that was having a "clearance sale" as they're going out of business soon. Now will I build it???
MPi-KM Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 It's not a Police jam jar, no hubcaps. What's a police jam car?
Mr Stock Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 What's a police jam car? Jam jar is rhyming slang for car Over this end of the pond Noel
GeeBee Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 (edited) That was for the Amsterdam cops with the posh version and moustashes back in the day. Seriously a Police convertible? LOL Back in the late 80's I was on a bus from Valkenburg to Amsterdam, and a Porsche 911 Targa cop car passed us, and yes the roof panels were off, I have seen the Golf Cabriolet's used by the German police, strange but true, as far as I can remember Dutch police cars were white and red, not white and green like the German police cars Edited February 5, 2015 by GeeBee

crazyjim Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Received the January 2015 #192 issue of MCM today. Haven't had a chance to look at it yet but I'm sure it'll be jam packed with good stuff. I was a quite disappointed that the Billetproof contest was not in "Coming Events". I replied to Gregg's post and also emailed it him twice. Mark your calenders for March 21, 2015 when Billetproof and the FAST model contest comes to the Big Daddy Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing.
MyBradKeselowski Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I have been waiting 10+ years for these but the bids on e-bay would just be too high for my pocketbook. I'm lucky enough to have an old school friend that has a lot of MPC vintage kits and low and behold what two kits did he have that I wanted an MPC 71 and 72 Impala annuals. I was one HAPPY CAMPER !!!!!!!!! when he let me have both kits for 75.00. They both are unbuilt and have the stupid goofy parts that MPC put in their kits back then. I have noticed on e-bay that the MPC 71 Impala also was molded in white, luckily mine is molded in red. I have always wondered why they did this and how would you know if you were getting the white or red kit. At least the 72 Impala is the prepainted body which will be kept in its painted color. If someone can answer my questions I would love to know the answer. Here's my gems:

unclescott58 Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Steve, that '72 Impala, you really do not want that and should send to me for disposal. You lucky dog. Scott
MyBradKeselowski Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Ha Ha ! ! Scott, I bet you would ! ! I'll dispose the 72 Impala in my closet...
StevenGuthmiller Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Nice score! But I do have to say, you may be the first person I've ever heard say you were "lucky" for getting the molded in color kits. Most of us hate them! Steve
Rob Hall Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Sweet Impalas..never seen the molded in red '71, both of mine are molded in white..but both of my 72s are in that blue.
Deathgoblin Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I finally got a workbench in my new apartment. YAY!

Steve That depends on the colors of kits....I like some of them in other colors than white or gray.
MyBradKeselowski Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Steve, I know I seem odd but some of the molded in colors that I like I will just detail, polish and clearcoat them. Rob, I have seen some of the 71's molded in white and just a few molded in red. I got lucky I guess as I wanted the molded in red 71 Impala. Is there an explanation on why MPC did the 71 Impala's in both red and white? I'm just curious.. Thanks for the comment I love these big old Chevy annuals from MPC..
Rob Hall Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 (edited) 70-71 seems to be when MPC started offering molded in color kits..I have a few..'70 Challenger (purple), '70 Cuda (green), '70 Cyclone (dark red), '71 Cougar (green), 71 Chevelle (orange) ... full size car kits of the '60s-70s are one of my particularly favorite modeling niches, have all the '71-76 MPC Impalas and Caprices, incl. the promos. At least 2 of each year of the kits and a bunch of the '76 reissues.. Edited February 6, 2015 by Rob Hall

MyBradKeselowski Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Thanks Rob for the info, that explains it then why they did it. Did they also do that on the 75 Caprice? Reason why I'm asking is I have a MPC 75 Caprice and it is molded in dark brown but there are 1 or 2 75 Caprice's on e-bay right now that are molded in white. All of my 76's are white.
