1320wayne Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Here are the finished pics. of my latest completed build. This is an AMT COT curbside kit that has been updated with a resin nose and resin spoiler to bring it up to current day specs.. The paint is Dupli-color metalcast blue over their metalcast silver base coat. Six coats of color followed up with five coats of clear. This is topped off with an excellent decal sheet from Powerslide. I adjusted the ride height and detailed the tires and wheels with decals from different Slixx sheets.
Jim Whalen Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Not my area of expertise - but anyone can see this is a very sharp build!! Cheers, Jim
TooOld Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Wow ! That's probably the best I've ever seen ! Beautiful paint and the details look perfect , including those tires !
bbowser Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Great model, captures the 1:1 very faithfully. Put in the right scene it would be hard to tell its not the real thing. If you don't mind my asking, how did you handle the 'American Ethanol' decal for the fuel filler? I'm working on a COT at the moment and the decal looks like it won't cover the area down inside, just the ring around the outside of the filler. If you used paint for fill-in what color did you use?
Kmidd65 Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 She looked stunning during the build but the results are fabulous! Nice job, Wayne!

Bruce, the Ethanol decal will snug down inside the opening pretty good and cover most of the area. The dry break image is a separate decal and I put this in first. I should have done the Ethanol decal fist followed by the other one. That way it would have covered better.
vintagedragfan Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 wow! snuck this one in on me Wayne, super nice!!

Thanks for the tip Wayne, I'm going to be decaling this weekend so I think I'll start there.
moparmagiclives Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 As someone said, not my style, but man it that a sharp looking car, I love that color, and the finish is too notch !!! Great job !
1320wayne Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Thanks guys for all of the comments. Here is a pic. of what the paint looked like before I added the decals. I was really impressed with how this paint applied straight from a can. I almost didn't want to add any decals. I'm not the best painter when it comes to models so I get a little excited when one comes out as good as this.

Chuck Doan Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Beautiful build! Kudos for all those decals too. That has to be some finicky work getting them all in place.
James2 Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Not a NAPCAR fan, but that is a nice build you have there.
