crazyjim Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 1962 Chevy bubbletop with a 409 painting in HOK violette pearl with some Pearl Ex lavender on top of that. Neal (Outlaw35) turned me on to Rustoleum texture paint and this chassis is painted with that stuff. It's kind of thick and covers some details, but gives an interesting finish. It comes in a few colors and I'm going to be trying them on interiors.
Bartster Posted December 7, 2012 Posted December 7, 2012 Oh Yeah !!! Beautiful through & through ! '62 was a VERY good year. Lotsa great things came about then. Bart
Lunajammer Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 That engine is killer! Beautiful colors and detailing.
TooOld Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Beautiful '62 ! I love the lavender top coat , gives it a great shine ! I've used the Rustoleum texture paint too , it makes a good undercoating and you can paint over it in any color you want . I used it on my Ranchero and was thinking about trying a for vinyl top one of these days .
Geno Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Very cool, the '62 was a great year, you did it proud.
Sixties Sam Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Very nice! Great color, and I like the purple heater hoses! Very cool! Sam
W-409 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 That's just correct engine choice for '62 Bel Air. Excellent looking Powerplant, detailing is fantastic. It looks like real thing to me. Nice paint job too, and Shiny of course. I like this one, you do great work.
ChevyCoupe41 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Looks very nice and shiny! Engine looks good and interior also. Color is nice too. You can't go wrong when you put 409 to '62 Chevy.
crazyjim Posted December 8, 2012 Author Posted December 8, 2012 Thanks fellas. A very nice kit to work with.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Jim, I think you've been taking all your Styrene Addict vitamins, you are on a great roll, pal. Pure eye candy, keep it rolling our way. Looking forward to what you will cook up in 2013.
crazyjim Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 Thank you. Looks like 2013 will be seeing a '29 pickup, a custom '50 Olds, and a '55 Chevy pickup. HOK has some new colors that are on order, and I'm planning to organize my stock of aluminum tubing. I was also thinking of trying my hand at a weathered build - NOT!! The big plan for 2013 is to continue to wake up every morning and be able keep my styrene addiction moving along.
tooltas Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 that texture paint mit work for truck bed liners too but ur 62 looks cool..
crazyjim Posted December 14, 2012 Author Posted December 14, 2012 I think it would be fantastic for bedliners. The secret seems to be to keep the spray can far away form the subject - about 18".
