martinfan5 Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Well, I can't buy it until I know what it costs, right? Seriously... if the price is in line with other Pocher kits, I'd spring for it. Well duh Mr smart arse Thats what I was wondering, if the price is about the same with the other kits
Harry P. Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 It's hard to say what the "real" price of other Pocher kits is, because they're all long out of production and they sell at "collector" prices now, highly inflated and not "real" in any sense. I'm curious to see how they will price this one. I remember when Pochers were still being produced, they sold for roughly $200-400 or so. If they price this one in that range (or maybe around $500 at today's prices) you can count me in.

Thats not bad really, if it sells for what you said, I might have to get one myself, well after I save up for it , I cant see spending that much on one model kit at once, but I would love to though
Rob Hall Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 The Lambo doesn't interest me, the 993 could be interesting... I'm not really into 1/8th scale, though. If they did Porsches like a 917K, '73 911 RS, or '78 930 Turbo then I'd consider..or for Ferraris, maybe a 330p or 365 GTB/4 (Daytona)...
jaydar Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 I would have bought the F50, Enzo or any of the classic Ferraris. The Aventador is not a classic. Maybe i am just not a Lambo guy.
sjordan2 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 When you consider the prices of the 1/12 Tamiya Porsche Carrera and Enzo Ferrari, you've got to expect the Pocher Lambo to be way north of there.
sjordan2 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 More info from a German retailer -- they expect the price to be around 600 euros, about $815. http://shop.autographmodel.com/2013-01-30-International-Toy-Fair-Nuremberg
The Creative Explorer Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 When you consider the prices of the 1/12 Tamiya Porsche Carrera and Enzo Ferrari, you've got to expect the Pocher Lambo to be way north of there. That is exactly what scares me, on top of that; the quality of the Aventador looks better then the previous models they had and quality usually equals more dollars.
Harry P. Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 At that price, they're shutting out a lot of potential customers.
sjordan2 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Or you can get a prebuilt 1/8 diecast from Amalgam for GBP 3,895 ($6,178). Don't know if they had anything to do with the Pocher version, but they're putting together a series of 1/8 cars from the Ralph Lauren collection. The Lauren diecasts retail for nearly $10,000. http://finemodelcars.com/blog/?p=1115
Chuck Kourouklis Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Fools and their money. I'm still on board.
sjordan2 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) At that price, they're shutting out a lot of potential customers. The price mentioned in my link above says it includes German VAT (Value Added Tax), but that retailer says they do not add VAT to shipments abroad. Therefore, you can subtract 19% from the price, which brings it down to about $660 USD. BUT what would the price be in the US after markups OR what would shipping from Europe cost? Anyway, I've found that for many products, early price estimates tend to be overly rosy. Edited January 31, 2013 by sjordan2
sjordan2 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 for 10K I better be able to drive the thing!! Custom models from Gerald Wingrove (1/15 scale) or Fine Art Models go for upwards of $30,000, and you can't drive them even if you're Stuart Little. Wealthy collectors pay for and justify their purchases in many different ways. What's lodging worth? There's somewhat of a difference between my apartment and Downton Abbey. None of this has to do with fools and their money though, clearly, people without the proper means can spend money foolishly. I really get tired of the "more money than brains" idea.
Chuck Kourouklis Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Well, I brought it up more as self-effacement for my willingness to go into four figures for the Pocher model if necessary. For what it's worth.
Brett Barrow Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Hornby products (well, Airfix at least, as that's all I have first hand knowledge of dealing with) tend to be very competitively priced in the US, there's not a lot of difference between UK pricing and US pricing. For example, the current issue of their big Bentley goes for an MSRP of 100 GBP ($158 at current exchange rate) while US MSRP is - what do you know - $159.95. I would expect that whatever Hornby says is MSRP in the UK will be what they go for in the US, if normal Hornby channels are used to distribute them here. I'm still waiting for more info from Hornby, they were not allowed to talk about anything regarding Pocher before Nurnberg.
sjordan2 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 We'll find out in the Fall when the kit actually hits the market.
Harry P. Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 If this kit is a major improvement over the past Pocher "modern" kits (Porsche and Ferraris), then I can see paying $600 or so. But if this kit is on the same level as those others, no way will they be seeing 600 of my dollars. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I think I read somewhere that this one will be 650 parts or so. That would indicate a higher level of detail than the Ferraris and the Porsche. At least I hope so!
monkeyclaw Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Um; I'm In! It would be great to have a modern car to build in 1/8 scale....Can't wait............Matt
Draggon Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Not into Pocher, not much on Lamborghini, not much on the large scale, on a social security budget, but dang, this is one I might just blow a whole years modeling on!
LDO Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I seriously need to spend less on models and more on real cars, but a 1/8 Aventador would be ***awesome*** I'd buy one.
Scott - Elm City Hobbies Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 I contacted Hornby as an Airfix dealer to see if the usual channels in North America that already import Airfix and Humbrol would also be carrying the Pocher brand, and they told me that yes they would expect that they would, but that it is up to the individual importer as to whether they wanted to carry the line.
Bill Eh? Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Here is a link to Pocher website, with the kit announcement: http://www.pocher.com/index_en.html#home
Roncla Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Estimate price is 600 euro or US $818 on todays currency converter. Available from 3rd quarter this year. The website says that includes 19% German VAT which can be deducted for export http://shop.autographmodel.com/Pocher-1-8-model-kit-Lamborghini-Aventador-HK100-Orange-Argos Edited February 2, 2013 by Roncla
sjordan2 Posted February 2, 2013 Author Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Still no pictures of the engine alone. Joe. This is the most they've shown on their website. Here's the real deal... Edited February 2, 2013 by sjordan2
