Ron35369 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 This was another rebuilder that I got on Ebay. I know some guys won't like the big wheels, but this car has such large wheel openings it was just begging for some 20's.
Harry P. Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 That body has some weird twists and bends to it. And you're right about the "some guys won't like the giant wheels" thing...
charlie8575 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 10-4 on a thumbs down on the rims. The rest of it....not bad at all. Fords of that vintage look good in that green. Put the stock wheels or a nice set of Cragars on it, and I'd be happy to have that on my shelf. Charlie Larkin
SSNJim Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Very nice and clean. I like the wheels - they certainly look good on the car.
Dyno Davo Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Super cool, everything is right about that model
Nitro Neil Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I don't like the big wheels in general, but you're right; they do look pretty good on this car. Nice job.
Danno Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I don't like the big wheels in general, but you're right; they do look pretty good on this car. Nice job. Ditto! Ron, you've really nailed the paint-and-finish department! Beautiful model!!
slusher Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Great looking build, the wheels give it a modern look..
JunkPile Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Nice lookin' model Ron. The wheels look right at home to me
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Yep, the wheels are ugly, but the car and the build is awesome.
george 53 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 It's REALLY nice! What color is it? It sure makes it!
Chuck Most Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Love it! I think big wheels look perfect on a big car... and Galaxies of this vintage were, indeed, gigantic! That body has some weird twists and bends to it. I think it comes with age. I've had two of the AMT '68's, and both of the bodies were warped beyond much use.
Ron35369 Posted January 8, 2013 Author Posted January 8, 2013 I am really liking this forum! It's refreshing to get honest opinions & not just lip service. Interesting how divided people are on the new style "large" rims. I personally don't mind the bigger rims on some cars...as long as they aren't hideously huge as on a "Donk". I really didn't notice any body warp & the model sits level on a flat surface. It might just have been my amateur photography, although I did see a couple sink marks in the front fender where the core support is. Thank you for all the comments & input...this will help me to be a better model builder. Not sure what color green that is, George 53, as I painted this one several years ago.
Ramfins59 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Great looking model Ron. My first car was a '67 Galaxy. Yep they are big boats.
Ron Hamilton Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Looks good to me. It could be a tad lower if it were mine. I can even dig the wheels.
nutboltu Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 or black centres on those wheels would have made the car look super awesome.
impcon Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Looks great! I amnot a real fan of the colour green, but this sure does look good! Nice job.
rustybill1960 Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 (edited) Simply Amazing work!! Hey if the shoe fits . . . Your choice of rims is "dead on" Man!! Thank You for sharing Later Russ Edited January 10, 2013 by rustybill1960
ChrisR Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Great model but I also say the wheels are a no-no.
