Sixties Sam Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) It looks like everyone is building this kit, so I decided to join in! This is a nice kit. It is well designed, and goes together well. I don't like the whitewall decals. Actually, I don't like messing with decals in general, and these whitewalls were a bugger. The tires curve near the edge, and the flat decals don't want to follow the curve. I used some decal set, which helped, but I still have some wrinkles. Also, the rear wheels seem a little too far rearward, not centered in the opening. The axle positions are fixed, but somehow, I got it a bit too far back. Not changing it now. The paint is Krylon Almond, which is a very light beige. Interior is two tone gray. Here are some pics taken on my garage diorama in sunlight. Here's the interior during the build. Here it is with my 57 ford and an Ulrich Mini-Man on a Sting Ray bicycle. I enjoyed this build. It's nice to build a kit that goes together without a lot of hassles! I hope you guys like it. Ramfins59 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Great build Sam. I'll get around to building that kit eventually.
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Perfect colors for it...the car looks almost real in those daylight shots.
Dominik Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 very nice on the olds... I really like your diorama! x2! Can i find your diorama in the section "dioramas"?
James2 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Good looking model. Your attention to detail show through. And the photography is well done.
slusher Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Thats a really good looking model. Great color and interior detail...
Sixties Sam Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 x2! Can i find your diorama in the section "dioramas"? Dominik, I posted the diorama in the dioramas section in 2011. If it's not there, you can see it and my other dioramas and models in my Flickr photo album at http://www.flickr.com/photos/12482094@N07/. Sam
hpiguy Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Very nice. I have two of these kits. One arrived a few weeks after the first one due to a defect on one of the parts. Tire was mispunched and when I called, they just went and sent another entire kit. Funny thing is, on the second kit, it has printed whitewalls instead of the all black ones on the first kit. Either they started shipping them with printed tires right after I bought mine, or I got a "mistake" that works to my favor.
bbowser Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Great looking model, cool diorama, excellent photography! You sir, have the complete package. Well done.
Sixties Sam Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 Chris, I wish mine had the printed whitewalls, or better yet, I wish Revell had used tires with plastic whitewall inserts like their 49 Mercury kit has in it. That seems like the best way to do wide whitewalls. Sam
