Revell is planning to release the 1/16 Hawaiian Dodge Charger funny car again, with decals to build it as either (or maybe both?) the '71 or '72 car, like so:

There may be some newly tooled up parts included this time around, too. IIRC it's the 40th anniversary of the Aurora's Racing Scenes Funny Car kits hitting store shelves in 1973, so maybe they'll tool up some American five-spoke front and rear wheels as a nod to past (and now defunct) 1/16 F/C kits? I don't know what the new parts will be, or if they'll even make the cut, so hopefully we'll see it in 2014.

I'd like to see Revell tool up some new Super Trick wheels for the 1/25 scale funnies. The original ones only bear a slight resemblance to the 1:1 parts...

Well, I know of someone who is working with Revell on new wheels and tires. Apparently Revell has to re-do the tires because they can no longer get them from their source. So we can at least look forwards to that! And new decals!

As for Aurora stuff. Forget it! The Donovan mold was accidentally destroyed by Aurora during production and the other tooling is MIA. Unless they really want to dig for it.

I'm curious as to what Revell is going to charge for these rereleases. $50-$60 bucks???

The last reissue, the M/T red Revelleader, was priced at $35-$40 from what I recall, so I would expect this one to be in the $40-$45 range.

Can't wait for this man. I heard about this a few weeks back on Facebook man & it seems it's getting some well deserved coverage now. I'll be getting a few of these babies man.

There was a rumor last year that Revell was going to do a collaboration with Model kings and re issue the Tom McEwen Moongoose Duster. I guess that fell through. Personally would have rather had the Duster, but not complaining.

I would expect the Duster kit to be next in line for production, and if Revell follows the same pattern, that would mean we'd see it in 2018 or 2019.

I am glad to hear this, but a little shocked. Talked with the Revell guy at Toledo about 1/16 scale cars and he said there was no money to be made on that scale car and he did not see the funny car being reissued. Nice if they changed their minds and get them out there.

This is good news.If the old set of decals I have for my Gene Snow version crumble on me I can get a set of the Hawaiian's and paint the body.

Re-doing the mold for the rear slicks would be appreciated, too, as they never seem to hold up over time.

I just thought of something which I didn't mention earlier, but if Revell needs to mold new tires for this kit (which, IIRC, I was told they do since their manufacturing source can no longer supply them. Hmmm, they were made in Japan from what I remember...tsunami related, perhaps?), perhaps the new tires will solve the collapsing/deformation problem the old, hollow, thin wall slicks had. Revell could tool up new wheels and tires in the newer "ribbed" style, much like those in the '50 Olds and Stacey David Rat Roaster kits.

These new wheels and tires could turn out to be a good thing after all. B)

"Luckily" it's 1/16 scale so I can be without buying it. Even if I'd like to build 1/16 scale build some day, but it would get bit too expensive since all seat belt materials, wires hoses etc needed to be bought seperately. But I can't wait to see what Chris would do with this kit. B)

I hope they re-release it, but supposedly sales of the recent Chi-town, '69 Hawaiian were dissappointing, so I wonder how many more nitro burners we are going to see from them. The "NHRA Assortment" at Michael's is on sale at "closeout" pricng, and the remaining McEwen Duster has been on the shelf at my usual Michaels for the past 2 weeks.

Niko-all the detail items except the seat belts already come in the kit and the routings are called out on the instruction pages.

Ouch, another Must have kit.

Then this is something I really need to get, because on the other hand I've always wanted to build larger scale kit, but never bought one because the lack of detail items.

I could also see Slixx doing some 1/16th scale Charger decals to give builders some alternatives if a hawaiian charger isn't what you have in mind.

Slixx created the Wild Willie Borsch and at least one more 1/16 Charger F/C decal sheet when the Chrager kit was reissued in 1999(?), and I see they have a 1/25 Ray Alley Engine Masters sheet already, so hopefully they will offer a few more.

I built a few of the 1/16th Revell kits back in the day. To get around the rear wheel collapsing / deformation, I lined the slicks with cotton from pill bottles to give them some support. Worked good from what I remember. But reissuing a few Funny Cars and Front engine Rails would be great. I could build the kits that my mom through out when I moved out years ago. :)

Looks like the new rear wheels will be of the bear claw variety, with American 5-spokes up front, and wider slicks out back, too?:
