James2 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Just finished this up last night, painted the base this morning. I'm calling it "Up on the Wheel", kinda like a last lap turn four theme. This started with a Baldwin Motion body and front clip, some resin parts and some parts from the stash. Plenty of body mods and scratch building with a light touch of weathering. Tamiya paint, swap meet ddecals and some water colors. The base is painted grey as to not detract from the car and I was trying to stay away from the diorama class. Hope you like it. Here is a link the build, http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w184/fredjames_2007/Dirt%20Late%20Model/
RatRod Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Not really my cup of tea, but a really nice build!!! Nice job!!!
gasser59 Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 That is spectacular James. I really like the look, stance and weathering of this and I also like your concept of not adding too much detail to the base. Nicely done.
Danno Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Very cool build! Great looking dirt racer, but wouldn't there be a bunch of mud splatter behind those tires on the quarter panels and front fenders? Looks like the tires extend beyond the sheet metal. Still a great looking build, just needs some splatter to look even better.
James2 Posted February 10, 2013 Author Posted February 10, 2013 Thank you guys for the kind words and comments. I had thought of the splatter, but did not want to over do it. This represents a dry track newly raced car. But I have dirtied them up before!
Danno Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Okay. I didn't know there was such a thing as a dry track!
Draggon Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Absolutey fantastic! I cant quite tell from the pics, but in the first pic is the left front in the air?
slusher Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Another great build James. looks great as it sits. l really like your work. l think you can build anything.
FordRodnKustom Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 Great build, very realistic. I can smell the mud, exhaust and beer from here!
James2 Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Thank you kindly guys. And yes the front left is in the air and he's dig'n for the finish line.
rmvw guy Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Nice looking model! I like the name "Fun Saver".
iBorg Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 This is so close to what I remember on Friday and Saturday nights at the dirt tracks in Kentucky. Thanks! Mike
lanesteele240 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 I am glad i clicked on this one. Do you have any build up pics
