W-409 Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Nice Vega, got to love those GM H-Bodies. I really like the Paint job on this, the overall detailing and clean look is something I really like. Nice to see these with Four Cylinder engines, too. Very nice.
'70 Grande Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 A nice, nice build! I wish I could find an affordable MPC Vega kit to build or a built-up to restore. My 1:1, 1973 Vega worked pretty well for me while I was in college. Until the cold, rainy, October, Saturday night when my buddies and I were out-on-the-town, and 4 of us piled into it to head to another party across town. Once inside the car, the windows started fogging-up, and the poor window defroster couldn't keep up with their excessive hot breaths... and I couldn't see where I was driving. I hit an oversize curb in the median of the road, and nearly tore the entire front suspension off of the car! My dad wasn't too happy about having to get outta bed at midnight on a cold and rainy October's night to come and get us!
bbowser Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 Great looking model. My best friend in high school had a '71 brand new, the fenders started rusting out within a year. Great little car though!
Faust Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Flashback! I remember lots of these (and the wagons, too) rusting out around my neighbourhood as a kid! I want one of those kits! Great to see one built, rather than being jealously guarded in a dusty collection, with no chance of being built.
mangodart Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks again for these comments, I'm pretty sure this one won't rust I own this kit for a few years now, and as I decide to do an all 70ies build year I thought that was the good moment to do it. Watch out for a new late 70ies little muscle to come
rustybill1960 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 That is a very clean sharp build! I really like the way You did it! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
Rob McKee Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I just loved these little cars back in the day. A friend of mine had one in high school and I remember countless hours cruising around town in the little beast. Very nice build of a very cool car. This would be a great kit to re-issue.
Monty Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Emmanuel, please check your Intenal Messages (envelope symbol at the top of the page) when you get a chance. Thanks!
RatRod Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 You took a turd, and made a diamond!!! Very impressive Emmanuel!!!
Lunajammer Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Very nice model. I like your selection of colors. I too am a past owner of two Vega wagons. Your model was a nice reminiscer until I saw your engine and suffered a flashback of post traumatic stress.
bogger44 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Very nice Mango! It's cool to see a Vega built. The lettering you did is far better than what I could pull off.
OldsMObile Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Love the color. The engine was done nicely. Great work on the car and the photos!
W-Machine Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Now there is a car you just don't see every day, model or 1:1, It looks great! That's for sure! Your Vega looks fantastic. Certainly no 1:1 Vega ever looked that good.
