Build from hell

I just finished a model that turned out OK, But it seemed that everything that could go wrong at some point did go wrong.

Do others on here experience this once in a while?

This hobby is supposed to be relaxing not a stress builder....... sheesh!

I seem to be afflicted with terminal paint and bodywork drama. I just keep the fill/sand/prime cycle going until it looks good.

That's the advantage of having a bunch of kits; if you get frustrated on one build, you can work on another and come back to the first build later.

IT has been happening to much for me lately, l am going to start more then one build so l can pick up another build when it happens again..

Gerry... It happens to me all the time almost like it does not want to be built? I just sit back and look at it to find the problem or just take a break from it for awhile. For me I have had problems with ether paint or bodywork at times but never let one win yet...LOL... Keep at it you will get it sooner or later.

I recently finished one of these. Many times it almost met the wall with force. I still can't figure out how it got completed. It does help to have a few other kits to mess around with.

Always try to remember, that model does not have to be built. It is there for your enjoyment. If your not enjoying it, just put it away until you get the urge to work on it again. In the mean time, enjoy this forum. Maybe you'll learn new tricks that will help you in your build?

Here, it's simple math....

build from hell = stress = more started projects.

That is how it works for me. At least you hung in there and finished it.

I got my own hell child. I know the kit sucks anyway (Lindberg 48 Lincoln) but I just felt like commiting suicide I guess. Despite the 93 piece body (LOL) I really had no assy problems at all. I am building as many Indy Pace cars as I can otherwise i would never have built this kit. Every thing was going well till my new clear (Upol) I think I put on to heavy, 2 other models were OK. The passenger door bubbled up and the front fenders did the same. I had previous problems with the fenders and had been already painted twice. I was lucky with door I saved it and was lucky the Fred Cady decals had 2 sets of Logos, Whew. The fenders not so lucky I threw them back into the pond for about a month. I just took out about a week ago, cleaned them up a little and threw the whole kit back in the box to be finished at a later date. Been about 3 months since I first started it and may be 3 years till I go back.

Keep your expectations low, then you'll never be disappointed. Right Woody? Before you know it, even a 48 Lincoln or 37 Cord can become a gem. Glad you finished Gerry. For me nothing fuels my desire to build like a completion.

I think sometimes things go so off of the rails that it peaks a persons drive to finish and just see how it turns out good or bad.

I am very tempted to get another of the same kit and try again. And yes, I think I will dial down my expectations. I also suspect that we are our own worst critics.
